    Have a guess - what's wrong with my '73?

Yeah saw those on my search - was the only one of that type I could find and is in the USA (I'm in the UK), hence I've ventured down the road of an alternative.

    Have a guess - what's wrong with my '73?

No mods to the chassis, it's the holes on the mounting plate which have been lengthened. Would you mind linking some Amphenol please? Saw a few, but don't recall any having the correct measurement across the mounting plate holes. I'd be keen to keep everything as like for like as possible, if...

    Have a guess - what's wrong with my '73?

Thanks, appreciate that @neikeel In the meantime this is what we're considering. Think the screw/hole distance on the mounting plate was a little short so plate been drilled out slightly to align with the chassis, washer on top to sure things up.

    Have a guess - what's wrong with my '73?

Bit of advice please folks...... The original sockets are apparently Millen 33008 with mounting plate: https://www.etsy.com/listing/502414076/millen-33008-steatite-octal-tube-socket Can't find any replacements and apparently none of these are likely to be direct drop-ins...

Hairline crack on one of the current sockets..... (loving seeing all this and doing some learning, great stuff!)

    Have a guess - what's wrong with my '73?

I tend to run the amp pretty hot - we briefly discussed transient voltage suppressors to keep the peaks at bay and maybe provide some protection. I declined that as it sounded like a mod to what's otherwise a fairly stock 50yo, plus with the actual issue at hand fixed it should largely be...

    Have a guess - what's wrong with my '73?

Hairline cracks and signs of arcing on the EL34 sockets apparently, so replacement planned. Which leads to my next question - any particular recommendations on EL34 sockets for a 73 JMP? These look a reasonable option: https://www.watfordvalves.com/product_detail.asp?id=1132 Though if...

    Have a guess - what's wrong with my '73?

Tube sockets definitely got a mention. Cosmetically they look in very good shape but he mentioned some specific testing he was going to do. Lots more stuff mentioned too but way over my head from a technical perspective. Great to see an expert on the job though, normally I just drop my amps...

    Have a guess - what's wrong with my '73?

My 73 JMP is at the tech this week, having gone silent recently. Was due a service and check-up, so dropped off at local chap to give it the once over.... HT fuse had blown, one bad power tube in there which we assumed caused it. New tubes, bias set, general check and test and I picked it up...

Learning how to understand, then repair/mod amps - where to start?

Just spoke to my local tech about some work on my 73JMP and it'll be his last job for me, having retired. For a while I've been thinking of educating myself on electronics, how amps work etc.... such that one day I'd maybe be able to mod/repair my own, ideally without killing myself. So, where...

Thoughts on this 1969 Super Lead 100

I’d generally agree. But, to not mention the restoration job at all when trying to sell it doesn’t sit well with me. I also note the seller has a FB ad for it which also omits the restoration. Absolutely quality work, no doubt about it, and I’m sure it sounds everything it should….. but, price...

Thoughts on this 1969 Super Lead 100

Turns out the reason it’s in such good order is down to a restoration: (Parts 2 and 3 also available on same channel)

Serial's 3134A, again very close to that one Music Locker had.

Thoughts on this 1969 Super Lead 100

Yeah, I think thats right. Here's another, inspection tag dated just 2 days away in '69: https://themusiclocker.co.uk/shop/vintage-1969-marshall-jmp-super-lead-plexi-100w-valve-amplifier/ Speaking of that inspection tag, does it look 100% correct? I'm wondering why the area on the chassis...

Thoughts on this 1969 Super Lead 100

Hi folks. Always appreciate the advice from the knowledgeable folks here - so if you'd be so kind, would like to hear folks' thoughts on this 1969 Super Lead. 3rd cab socket added at some point, filter caps replaced, original Mullard pre and new JJ power tubes. Overall looks pretty clean...

    Jumper/input query, 1973 50W Lead

This is the only pic of the inputs I have, from when I bought the amp.... happy to take it out for more pics if required though. Thanks! :-)

    Jumper/input query, 1973 50W Lead

Hi all I've owned many 4-hole JMPs and have never really been into the tones when jumpering the 2 channels, to the point I have done it in many years..... until today. Got a 73 50W Lead, fabulous amp - was checking out some Plexi clips earlier and decided to jumper the channels, for the first...

    Soldano SLO 100 your thoughts

My SLO100 is permanently set up with either a '73 JMP50 Lead or a '77 JMP100 MV - it's a great combination! Adam Jones from Tool mixes a Super Bass JMP (76, I think) with his Diezels - they're a great amp to blend in with something having a more modern high gain tone. I pondered over the...

    Help ID'ing originality - potential 1965/66 JTM45

@TAZIN - thank you once again. I'm going to list each of these points and hoping to note whether they're cosmetic, part of the circuit but not tone-affecting and part of the circuit and having an impact on the tone. I've also noted your points on some values to check/confirm. I've not seen...
