I own one and I think its great but lacks the bottom end and fullness of a 4x12. My friend has the half stack and I will soon get myself a 4x12 with greenbacks. If you have a choice...go with a half stack. The combo is ok but the open back 2x12 setup doesnt do this great amp as much justice as...
It may sound similar in the recordings but to the player I think they are totally different beasts. The 2203 is punchier and hits the speakers harder giving a fuller sound that doesn't break up as much.
Another test I like to do is to play one single note lets say the A on the 7th fret, D...
Cause I started the thread to get some information...but that's ok, people have bypassed what I said anyways...
You know what it's like dude...for some it's any reason to whine, mope and sounds like a whinging old lady. But....thats cool :)
I'll be honest and say I'm a big Bon Jovi fan and Richie Sambora is in my list of top few guitarists so I'm pretty excited about a Sambora amp.
So far as Marshall are concerned Richie has used JCM800's, Slash 2555SL's JVM's for a short period, Vintage Moderns. The DSL he has been using as his...
Alot of talk about a Sambora signature head on the way. I've heard he had some prototypes on the road during the last Bon Jovi tour. Does anyone have the inside scoop on what the deal is?
NB not really keen on your thoughts regarding whether Richie does or doesnt deserver a signature head...
I always said that if you combined the body and thickness of the green channel and mixed it with the gain capabilites of the red then you'd have the perfect amp...
I gave up on mine and sold it. Bought a JCM800...sold that...now have a Vintage Modern :) Love the VM!!!
I bought a new Vintage Modern. Does anyone know what brand the stock Marshall branded preamp tubes are?
I remember the stock tubes in my DSL were crap and when I changed them they immediately made my tone a whole lot better. Has this changed with recent Marshalls?
I have owned a DSL, 2204 and now VM. The Vintage Modern is very versatile for most classic rock that you will come across. In my opinion it has alot more mojo than the DSL and it operates in the frequencies that are pleasureable to me.
Also, importantly it doesnt fatigue my ears if I want to...
I went and tried a Vintage Modern 50w combo on the weekend and by the end of today I will be a proud owner of one.
In my mind it is the first Marshall to have combined thick lead tone with a higher type of preamp gain. I always said that my perfect Marshall would be the colour of the DSL red...
lets say for a stock DSL? Just wondering how much difference I will hear in the tone. I used to own one and got some great results with NOS tubes in there. But will the OT, PT, choke etc have much of a bearing? If so how much of a bearing will it have at lower volumes compared to when its cranked?
