I have both and to me they are totally different beasts. My 1987 is a 79 and the 2204 is an 82. I also play the JMP more, same reason just more versatile. Hopefully will never have to sell either.
Good luck!
Thanks for all the great advice. I am going to do the trade. The Marshall looks like it just came out of the box. It even has the original tubes in it.
I live in a house now but plan on selling it once the market turns and move the NYC area which means rent for awhile.
OK, I am thinking about trading a Roccaforte Custom 40 head for a late 70's JMP MK2 50 watt 4 input head non master volume. I already have a 1987 JCM 800 2205. How similar are the 2 Marshalls?
Thanks for any help!
OK, here is my two cents. I spoke with a very reputable amp repair guy in Atlanta this week about why all the hatred for the TSL's. Anyway, his opinion (yes opinion) is that Marshall really hasn't made an amazing amp since the early 70's. He feels the TSL's are just as good as the 900's and...
I have the JCM 2000 extension cab. It really is worth it especially seeing that they can be picked up used much cheaper than they were new. I think it really adds a ton of toneage that can not be neat.
OK, I am at a total lost with this stuff. I just bought a Dr Z Mini head with and 4 and 8 ohms switch. Can I use my TSL C212 cab with it. This stuff is way to confusing to me.
Thanks in advance.
No sweat....
Enjoy the amp. I bought mine used also and got one hell of a bargain. These things so cheap used. I almost am glad that people rag on them so much!
I have the TSL 602 with ext cab and love the cleans. WHat I do is the gain around 2:30 and crank the master. I sometimes use a Keeley Katana with it and WOW, it really warms the cleans up nice.
Have fun with this amp. It gets crapped on a lot but I have been play for 27 years and this thing...
I use a TSL 602 with a matching cabinet and it works great. You have the sound/power of a half stack with out having to lug a big 4x12 around if you don't need it.
Good luck!
I think the TSL sounds great at low volumes. You can crank the master and lower the volume on which ever channel you are on and you are good to go.
I really think this amp gets the shaft. I have been searching for something versitle for many years and I am completely happy. I own a Dr Z mini...
The TSL has more channels. Some believe there is too much going on the inside of the TSL. There have been issues of it overheating. I can tell you, I have no issues on. I leave my TSL on for hours and have never had an issue. I was told by by Jeff at Andrews Amp Lab that the TSL 602 was the most...
Oh yeah, crank the master and adjust the channel and you are good to go. I think it sounds great at low volumes. The cleans sound better a little on the cranked side so a booster helps there.
I love my TSL. It will rock. The cleans are good, better with the Keeley Katana. I have been asking why everyone dogs these. The only answer I get is that they are very busy in the electronics department. I have had zero problems with it overheating. I have been told my Andrews Amp Lab in...
It seems to get what I need. You just really have to mess with the settings. I think the amp sounds a ton better with the extension cabinet. Not a big fan of just the combo alone. The extra cab really brings it to life.
I think you can get pretty Metal with it. I don't think Mayhem would be...
I have the same combo. I use the extension cabinet with a Keeley Katana and an Analogman TS808 and it rocks. It gives you the extra power of a half stack without the pain of taking the 4x12 around.
Good luck!
I have a TSL 2000 602 and love it. I have the extension cabinet and it rocks. I use a Keeley Katana boost for the cleans and it really warms it up. I highly recommend it.
Good luck!
