Hiss on the OD channel tends to be handled in one of 2 ways. Either a noise gate type pedal (usually in some 4 cable type method) or judicious use of the guitar volume when you're not playing (just turn it down). JVM are cracking amps and I sincerely regret the day I sold mine, although I do gas...
As far as I'm aware the loops are the same on the entire JVM range and setting the mix to 100% and having nothing in the parallel/series loop return gives no output. Direct from the JVM 2 channel manual for the parallel/series loop section "Note that if the FX loop is ON and the MIX control is...
I can appreciate your caution on this. The simple test to see if an amp with a parallel loop will also run as a true series loop is to turn the mix up to max/100%, take any leads out of your effects return input and play. If you hear what you're playing, even if only very quietely, then it's not...
The JVMs have a 'mix' control knob next to the effects unit on the back and this controls the amount of dry and wet signal being mixed.
On zero you will have 100% dry (unaffected) signal.
With the mix turned half way you will get 50% dry and 50% wet (effected) signals - this is parallel...
Why not try simply moving the offending saddles to a couple of different strings and see if the breakages follow? That way you 'll know if the saddles for definite. I appreciate you'll have to re-intonate and what-not but might give you a head start rather buying new stuff.
Yup, it's on the A60 at the top of the 2 Papplewick junctions. If you're heading toward Nottingham it's the one on the right immediately before the junction.
Marshall do use a 75W rated G12H in their TSLC212 cabs and you can occasionally find them on ebay. Also Celestion make a Heritage G12-65 but that seems to be based on the G12M. Acouple of alternatives maybe?
As they have both now finished (I assume you were looking at the same 2 I was looking at on eBay UK?) did you buy either of them? I did a deal with a seller who had paired his with cab and was asking £1000 to start but received no bids. I got the head a JVM410H which is only 6 months old for...
Jon,
Not quite sure what you're trying to get at here. Are you wanting to run the HD150 as a pre-amp in to the DSL or the DSL as a pre-amp into the HD150 . I think the only way to record the DSL at its best will be to mic up a cab, as the resulting sound you're after is a combination of the...
I lived in jolly old Stanton Hill (Near Sutton and Skegby) for about 20 years, so yes Mansfield was my local town for drinking back in the 80s.
Yes, I know, I'm old! lol
Just out of interest are the any pubs still having live bands in Mansfield? It use to be the Town Mill in my day and...
If it's not already been done a lot of 401 users advocate a speaker change away from the stock Marshall speaker. One of the more popular choices for this is a V30.
Other tips include dropping a patch cable in the effects loop if you're not using it and maxing the effects mix control on the...
Hi, I was just wondering if there's any way to run a single head and be able to switch cabs on the fly. I have a 4x12 with G12H30s and a 2x2 with a V30 and an H65 and was wondering about the ability to switch between cabs on the fly for tonal changes. I appreciate they would definitely need to...
It depends on your budget. TC Electronics G-System is even better than the Nova but way more expensive. You need to be a bit more explicit in terms of cash available and what you're expecting it to be able to do.
Thanks for the replys.
This is the first 'potentially' vintage cab I've either seen or owned. It was listed on the UK version of craigslist called Gumtree and I bagged it for what seemed an unbelievable price. Basically the guy selling was not a guitarist but 'found it' in a warehouse where he...
