Is it ok to use 2x 8 ohm speakers instead of 1x 16 ohm speaker?
Is it safe to plug the two 8 ohm Legend GB128 speakers from my Peavey Classic 50 - which are wired together and plugged into the 16 ohm jack - into the 16 ohm jack on my Marshall DSL40CR? Based on my understanding I think it's fine but wanted to double-check so I don't blow anything up. I'm just...- JW2112

DSL40CR Noisy in High Power Mode
Thanks for the replies and the warm welcome. I decided to try replacing the power tubes first and settled on a pair of Svetlana Winged C EL-34s after reading good things. Installed and biased, and am happy to report the issue is resolved. No more noise and the amp sounds great :hbang:- JW2112

DSL40CR Noisy in High Power Mode
In high power mode my amp is making a constant scratchy, hissy, crackly, popping noise. Low power mode is fine. I biased the amp to 35 mV. I also removed the tubes and cleaned the contacts but there is no improvement. I suspect a tube is bad but not sure which one would cause that. Anyone know...- JW2112
