I get what you’re saying, but that wipes out the usefulness of having a MV that can be set for solo boosts. The amp is being returned to the retailer today.

I really appreciate your reply, but, I play in a covers band, and, having to kill a boost midsong when changing to crunch or OD, is just a step (!) too far. I really like the crunch mode, and OD1 sounds great right out the box, but I have to have a no nonsense clean option.

Thanks for the advice. I managed to find a few posts relating to the volume issue, seems it’s not just me! Real shame, as in the other modes I was getting some killer tones, but, I need a useable clean channel. Going back to the shop tomorrow.

Just got a brand new DSL40cr, major problem though, the volume discrepancy between clean & crunch is ridiculous. Is it just my amp, or, has anyone else suffered this?

£400, it was a great price.

Potential Owner Of A Jvm410c - Tips Please

I love the amp, but, there's a known issue with the voltage regulator causing ht fuse to blow. The clean channel is really nice, just a touch of break up when you really dig in, and, sounds great with an od pedal (Boss SD-1 in my case). Drive channels suit my needs well, od2 excellent for solos...

Potential Owner Of A Jvm410c - Tips Please

Sorry for leaving this hanging..... Tried the amp, and, it just didn't do it for me. Nothing I can really put my finger on, just didn't get a good feeling about it. My quest continues.

Potential Owner Of A Jvm410c - Tips Please

Going to try a JVM 410c tomorrow, any tips on what to look out for? Any known issues I should be looking out for? Returning to Marshall from Blackstar. Thanks in advance.

    MA, VM, Haze

I'm putting this to bed, as, the MA has put Marshall way down the list of amps worth considering. I'm really sorry that my reaction to this toy has got so many of you pissed off, but, please learn to accept that Marshall, like most other amp manufacturers, are capable of making crap gear. I was...

Have fun with your toy Marshall. Isn't it funny how my HiWatt Custom 100 sounded great with stock valves, how my ancient WEM Clubman didn't need several £££'s thrown at it, how any valve Fender I've bought/used sounded great, straight out the box? I think you need to lay off the hyperbole...

    MA, VM, Haze

Maybe I'm missing something here? The last time I bought a brand new amp, prior to the MA, was over 20 years ago. It was standard practice that amps were fitted with decent valves by the manufacturers. In the interveneing period, it seems that companies, such as Marshall, now find it acceptable...

"The first thing I did is replace the V1 preamp tube with a TungSol 12ax7 and the power tubes with some NOS RFT EL34's. That seriously improved the tone of the amp but I knew that tone was in there to begin with." And there lies the heart of the issue. Unless you're prepared to throw money...

MA series. The best advice I can give is, DON'T! I had a MA100C for 10 days, it was, without doubt, the worst amplifier I've ever used. They're made in Vietnam, the cabinets are particle board, and they sound terrible. On mine (and, this does not seem uncommon), the clean channel was extremely...

    Marshall Major

I'm not doubting your sincerity 5er driver, but..... On the Rainbow Fanclan forum, there is considerable scepticism regarding Dawks claims. The only verifiable occurence of Dawk having any connection to Blackmore, is, he did some P.A. mods/rentals. Saying that, Dawk is a respected tech when...

    Marshall MA50C

The horrible MA100C is no more. The guys at the shop (Guitar Guitar) were very understanding & took it back with minimal fuss. To anyone considering the MA series, a little simple advice.......DON'T GO ANYWHERE NEAR ONE, THEY ARE TRULY AWFUL.

    Marshall MA50C

You must have got lucky! My MA100C is virtually inaudible on the clean channel at 10! The o/d channel is unbelievably noisy, and at gigging volume, there is virtually no tonal difference between crunch & boost, despite the crunch balance being set at around 1 o'clock & the boost at 4 o'clock...

A New Marshall Is Born !

I've bought an MA100C. Gigged it once & I can't say I'm very impressed. Clean channel full tilt is quieter than my 10w practice amp. O/D channel is very noisy, at high volume there's virtually no difference between crunch & boost sounds. It's going back to the dealer on Saturday.
