Yesterday, I took my 2016 honeyburst Traditional in for a setup and bone nut. It was actually setup from the factory, quite well. But, I've been swapping out the nuts in some of my guitars, and it was next.
So I'm talking to one friend, the tech... and I notice this LP I haven't seen before. A Heritage Cherry something... marked at $1,499!!???
I think something has to be wrong, so I go looking for my other friend... "what's the story on the Cherry LP, in the corner?" He laughs, and says... "The 2016 Traditional? You want it? I've been authorized a price on it, already..." I was a bit confused, we were even at this point and he explained it was like when I bought mine, on a holiday weekend. Special Ticket item ($1,699). This guy also bought it new, at the blowout price. GC when buying back gear they sold, will buy it back at a percentage of the price you paid. Which means it was coming down FROM $1,699.
I'm not really ready to bite... I had actually come back to tell him I was in the market for an early 80s alpine white Custom. He then says... "I can let it go for $1,299." No stupid police hold waiting period. $1,299 and I'm walking out with a practically brand new Traditional!?
That means... for (2) 2016 LP Traditionals... I paid $3,000 (before tax).
Les Pauls too expensive?

I love the top... almost like a subtle flame plain top. Got some cool mineral streaking in it.
And here's the only thing wrong with it...
It appears the previous owner was one of those guys, that believed for a proper LP setup, the bridge and tailpiece must be screwed down to the body.
Picking up my Honeyburst on Sunday, going to drop this one off, have it properly setup and a bone nut. Think I'm going to put some Mojotone '59s in this one. Maybe Sheptone.
I love a good deal.
Picking up an '84 Studio Custom on Wednesday. That's the guitar, I've been waiting a damn month for! Tim Shaws...
