It's probably been asked before - I'm a newbie - I have a DSL 40 and a 2x12 1922 - is there a way that all 3 speakers can be used or is it one or the other. Apologies and thanks in advance.
:welcome: to the forum.
If the speakers are stock in the DSL40 (16 ohm) and the 1922 (2x 16 ohm - 8 mono/ 16 stereo) the impedance mismatch is not advisable.
BUT, it also depends on which version of the DSL 40 you have.
The older C version with 3 speaker jacks cannot do the impedance mismatch.
The newer CR version with 5 speaker jacks can.

yeah, you can hook them up, but you'll need to hook them up a certain way...

exactly which DSL40 do you have? 40C, 40CR?

is the 1922 cab 8 ohm, or 16 ohm?

do you still have the stock 16 ohm speaker in the combo?

I have the older Dsl40c’s, and I have ran the mismatch 8ohm MG cab, and the amps internal 16 ohm speaker, by plugging them both into the 8ohm taps..
I will not recommend you do this .. but I have been doing it since I bought them.. in 2015 . But I also don’t go crazy with volume.

About 3-4 is all I have done with a drummer.
But I have never experienced a problem yet.

But as I said, I do not recommend this method.

Enjoy your amp they are a great tone finding Marshall product

Both are stock and both are 16ohm so I think it will work - where do I plug them in?

Ok, that's a 5 jack CR.
This may sound crazy, but put the 16 ohm internal speaker in one of the 1x8/2x16 jacks, and put the 1922 cab (set to mono 8 ohm) into one of the 1x4/2x8 jacks.
That gives 2 half loads on the output transformer.
You'll never see this in any Marshall manuals, but it's been confirmed multiple times by a former Marshall amp designer as perfectly safe for the amp to operate like this.

Thank you so much - I would have never figured that out!
