Dating my JMP Super Bass

Hey all

I'm hoping to find out a bit about my JMP Super Bass 100w..

I have a photo of the serial, and I am keen to see if anyone can give me a year it was made?

Also, a mate of mine said that even though it says Super Bass, that these models are great for guitar, and not strictly Bass, is that right?

Any info about this model, uses, history would be much appreciated!

I´d say 1970 with that serial number. They used the latter A in both 1969 and 1970 but the numer is high so 1970. For better answer give us a gut shot (inside the amp) and some pictures of the transformers.

That serial number format was introduced in July 1969. The A suffix ran until Dec 1970 so yours is somewhere between those dates. Checking date codes on other components such as pots etc may help narrow down a more precise date.

No reason you can't out guitar through it, many people do. Try it, you won't hurt it.

If I had to guess just based on the serial number I'd say November 1970. Like others have mentioned, we would have to see additional pictures to be more accurate.

As said they are great for guitar, easy to tweak for better bass amps too
