The past few months my dsl 40cr been acting weird. Short history; Purchased new in 2018. About year later, volume started fading out, took to marshall qualified tech under warranty - replaced "mother board" - all good up until the past few months.

So now, it'll randomly change channels from classic red to ultra green for no reason. I keep it in the Classic red channel and use a DS-1. I don't have a foot switch hooked up either.
So now I set the Ultra Green channel to somewhat sound like the classic Red in case this happens.

Does this happen to anyone else? This amp gets played heavily as I been gigging with it 3-4 times a month since I got it. So overall, it's been pretty good to me.....

That's why I like my old 100 watt Superlead - Very reliable, no fancy circuits & can be repaired somewhat easily. Downside - lots of power to keep under control and it needs at least a 2x12 to get the job done for me.

I also bought mine in 2018 when they were more reasonably priced. Last night, half way through rehearsal was the first time I've ever experienced an issue with it. All of a sudden I lost volume/power. Even turning the knobs higher did not yield much difference. No fading or anything like that, just loss of power and it stayed at a certain lower level. I'm hoping it's just a preamp tube. I did not have time to inspect it last night, but I will tomorrow.

I have not experienced the changing channels issue (yet).

Good luck! I hope it's just a tube.

Your issue sounds like it might be tube related.

Don’t know about @matttornado problem, maybe just a bad switch?

I had a 2018 model (first year, right? unless mine was a 2017??)... But I didn't have it long enough before I sold it. Now I have a 2020 that I bought used, so it's got mileage, and so far after 2 months I haven't had any issues. I find the reverb to be very weak, but I think that's a "design feature" lol. I have reverb pedal to use anyway if I want reverb. However if it does start to give me issues, I have a good tech in my area.

I had a JCM900 4100 that started changing channels randomly a couple of years ago. Took it to one tech who wasted my time and money and couldn't fix it. I was lucky enough to discover there was a Marshall warranty specialist in another shop and took it to him. Rather than fight with the problem I just told him to replace the entire switching circuit which he did. Worked perfectly after that. Different amp but thought this might give you some food for thought.

Does it still randomly change channels with the footswitch plugged in ??
Mine are the Dsl40c’s and I have never had this issue, but back when I purchased my V I was demoing it through a cr.. and I had to have a footswitch plugged in for it to stay on the red channel, this was a floor model in SamAsh.

Cheers

I went to where I rehearsal today, brought the whole Doctor bag with all the goodies. I let the amp warm up for about 15-20 minutes and then played for about a half an hour. Nothing....no issues at all. Actually, the dead sound was there when I fired it up, but I noticed that all the EQ knobs were at min. I have no idea how that could've happened? Maybe when I took the cover on and off? I did not notice this when the issue actually happened. So, I'm not sure what the deal is, but once I eq'd it and played, it sounded normal. Strange phenomena!

The only switching fault on my 40CR is that the FX Loop re-sets to OFF each time I turn it on, even though the Loop light is ON.
A quick cycle of the footswitch or panel button makes it good until the next power up.
But this amp never leaves the house, so it can't get any haulage damage.
