I just bought a 1960 ahw and I'm in love..... the tone is outstanding, with my 1959 ppimv added it has everything you can asked for a classic rock machine in a band situation. lots of headroom way more than regular g12m...and it is a loud beast 3 db over the regular cabs Marshall has to offer (its the sound difference between a 50watter and a 100 water ) its articulate and punchy with mids for miles.. its not harsh at all if you play at regular band volumes...if you plan to play it bedroom level mmm I don't know it might be a bit stiff ...I understand why Hendrix play those speakers ...its my new thing ..if you play with a heavy handed drummer you won't regret it

is there any proud owner of the 1960ahw/bhw
I own two 1960AHW. Yeah! They are loud than others 1960s cabs I own. One has stock speakers (G12H30). The other one has G12M.

So what is the exact speaker type Marshall installs in a 1960AHW or BHW today?

I've got Heritage reissue Greenbacks (T1221 G12M25) in my JCM900 era 1960A. Actually they're Heritage recone kits in original '69 and '71 Greenback frames.

I did not open it yet but the way it sound I bet its still the g12h-30 55 heritage ...tons of mids, bass spike and no harsh treble...love it it cut through the mix ....I hope the tone will stay pretty much the same with time

I opened the cab yesterday and the speakers are THE heritage g12h-30 55 ...the only missing part is the stickers on the back of the speakers like they did back in the 60s ,probably to restrain people to resale the speakers imo

Here two G12H30 speakers from a 1960AHW that I installed in a 1936 G/GS cab.
