I don't know who built this but they did a fantastic job
Merren Transfomers, Mustard and Erie caps
Check out the pics. It looks and sounds fantastic.
Variac, Master Volume, Metro loop and Hi gain push pull

to Zep, AC/DC all the classic tones.

Hi, I agree looks like quality build. Is the Variac external? I see the Metro loop, but don't see it internal?

It's external. The down position on the standby switch

Rather than a standby switch is the hole used for a half power switch? Not really a "variac" per se. Correct?

No it's a variac. It drops the voltage but all four power tubes continue to function.

Not sure.
On a Metro build without Merren Transformers the drop should be from aprox 495 to 400 volts to simulate a variac set to about 95 volts.
This amp uses the Merren PT-80 reproducing the Drake 1203-80 power transformer with a lo-voltage option B+ switchable from aprox 490 to 455 volts.
Whatever the specifics it knocks it out tonewise
