After feeling meh about FX loops until I got an SLX and then bought my brother in laws JCM900, I now see the true power of this tone shaping stage.

Am I right after doing some searches on the forum, the only options for an FX loop in non FX loop amplifiers is to use a Fryette attenuator (for example)?

As the loop is after the power tubes instead of before in a conventional loop, does this still sound good?

I never felt the idea of the Fryette having its own power tubes to be anything other that counter productive to the Marshall sound. Two stages of power tubes is new to me.

It works quite well. Time based effects will sound clearer than if you used a built in FX loop, because the power amp distortion won’t smear your echoes. As far as I can tell the power amp in the Fryette is quite neutral.
