I did it with Greenbacks and 75s... It sounds good. I'm sure the 65s would sound as good if not better...

I also did Vintage 30s and 75s... Still thinking about that match..

I mix G12M-65's and G12H-30 Heritage greenbacks.
Works great for me.
Probably an even better mix with normal 25W greenbacks, since the G12M-65 is about as close as Celestion ever got.

Celestion made the G12-65's to be a higher power capacity G12M to handle the JMP 2203 MkII's and JCM800's. They are very predominant midrangey speakers IMO. At one time, I used a late 70's, cane front, Marshall 1960A loaded with all G12-65's and would get lost in the mix. I would use Vintage 30's with them to balance them out and add some upper midrange and high-end cut.

(2) G12-65 (65w ea) + (2) Greenbacks (25w ea) = still a 100w cabinet
(2) G12-65 (65w ea) + (2) Vintage 30's (60w ea) = 240w cabinet
For example, if you are using a 30w to 50w amp head it doesn't matter. BUT if you are using a 120w amp head, it does matter, because you could blow out the Greenbacks.
