Hi, I have a 1x12 cabinet with G12H 1217 Celestion from 1972. Together with with 1972 PA20 Marshall plays really well. The only surprise to me is that it has huge headroom, even in max volume it is only sightly crunched. Is it normall? It is usefull for my fuzz and octavia but I was awaiting natural Marshall distorted sound too.

PA heads would be designed to deliver clean power all the way to their max output. A few tweaks to some component values can bring the gain up.

Have you got pics of that speaker? I would be really interested to see if that speaker has original wiring and solder joints. It's rare for marshall to use the t1217 model.

A few years ago I had a 73 1x12 cab same as yours. I suspected the t1217 speaker might be original. It's the only time I've seen t1217 used in a marshall (and look original).

So be interesting if yours looks original too.

Hey, so you think because of PA20 amp design it is quite normal that it doesn´t get crunched?(just a bit). Well the speakers are taken from another cab, probably Orange or something else. I put it into cabinet from ninetees - MODEL 1931A - open cabinet. Btw one G12H speaker is more than enough for PA20.

Btw do you think the other speaker will sound well in homemade copy of MODEL 1931 B? For my second t1217 speaker I decided to build home made one. B version of 1931 has same size as A version right? The size is same as bottom or as the top of A version?
