Well, belated birthday now. The 12AX7 first went on sale on September 15, 1947 and has been in service now for 77 years.
And you thought you were old....
It's pretty amazing to me that in these days of rapid technological advancement that this unassuming little bottle of glass is still for the most of us a standard that has yet to be surpassed.
