JCM 800 Battle!
So I went home for luch and recorded these clips, had to be alone since this was loud! :) Just one take with each amp didn´t have more time could be better but this is for fun only... nothing scientific! Just quick and dirty!

These are the amps used:

1 watt JCM 800 50th anniversery
JCM 800 100 watt vertical input
JCM 800 100 watt horizontal input
JCM 800 100 watt split channel
JCM 800 50 watt split channel

Les Paul with PAFs
1976 Checkerboard 4x12 with 25 watters

I have to say I have difficulties hearing which is which... :) PLEASE TELL WHICH YOU PREFEER!

best regards plexi

#2!
What happened to #5? Sounds as if the mic was placed somewhere else?

Could be, if I stepped on the cable, last one but it was quick and dirty as I told you...

Do you only have 2 clips or five?

Five amps recorded there should be 5 clips

I saw all 5 right away in the OP link. I dare not guess though because I'm at work and these desktop speakers mask too much of the lows and highs...though even here I can tell (as mentioned) something went way wrong with the fifth take!!!

Thanks for the comparison! Can't wait to get home and sample it with monitors.

I will make a new recording with amp 5. I recorded with my iPhone an a new iRig mic but that wasn't connected in clip five, so hear you hear the internal mic... Ups! :(

Stay tuned for an updated playlist!!!

All were pretty close...but if I had to rate them I would probably go..

2, (close second) 4, 3, 1 and lastly 5...

#4 is really just as good..as 2, its just different, some minor clarity lost for more meat. You could though, probably tune #4 to sound REALLY close to #2...and still retain most of its meat...

They all sounded good though! Boost them bastards with a good OD pedal and some hot passive pickups, some tighter speakers (V30s), and they'd be METAL monsters; all of them!

Agreed! And in that order as well.

Good work. Some recordings have pinch harmonics, others don´t. Was that amp related, or just differnt playing?

The tracks make me wonder how much of a tuneup my JCM needs. Mine doesn't sound anything like those.

Pinch harmonics
Both some amps "makes" me do it more, easier to pinch...

Skinny which jcm 800 do you have?
