You skipped amp line 2:Easy to say for someone with only 8 amps . . . Ha!
I'm topping out at about 17 right now and I can't stop playing my JVM1H @ 1/10th watt thru a Weber alnico loaded 2X10 SWR bass cab. Sounds Glorious! Yah If I do pick it up, it's destined for the vault .. . . . .

If you look at the schematics through the years they are identical. The only thing that is different between earlier models fitted with 34s, and later models equipped with 5881s is the component values in the the amp's bias circuit. Marshall went to 5881s only because for a spell EL-34s were hard to come by. If you want to run EL-34s you have to change out a few resistors in the amp's bias circuit. It's a cheap, easy mod. Most techs can do this cheaply. Makes a huge difference if you are wanting a more traditional Marshall sound. It was a love-hate relationship for me.
I have the 100 watter version of it with a single Celestion speaker and 5881 tubes.
I heard that the early 90s with EL34 has a different circuit and sounded killer.
Mine was made in 1997, and I didn't like the sound albeit purchased it of which I kindda regretted.
I did a couple of mods to it to get (probably 90%) as close to the sound which I wanted.
But if I were to start all over again, I would get either get the early 90s (if what I heard is true) with the EL34s or just get something else.
