Since I decided to sell my Class5H, I've been looking for a small box head to put on the custom vintage style cabs I had made.
Hence, the 3310 search and 3210 hack job thread.
I bought the G50RCD thinking I could do a head conversion, but It's got a wonky chassis that's deeper in the back than front, and I'm just not digging the tones from that amp.
I found the perfect head for the old C5 cabs - the G215 sounds fantastic through the pair of old G12T-66 Haze speakers.
It's got tone like a single channel solid state Haze15.

Ok, back to the 3210 - no, I have no plans to chop it up.
Now I need something to put on the 2x10 columns that I just re-loaded with a pair of 10" greenbacks and a pair of VT jr.'s (from the micros).
Up popped a 3210 on GC in great shape, so I put in in my cart last night, twice, and deleted it twice.
Pulled the trigger this morning, should be here in a few days.
It's going to be getting green tolex and basketweave to match the column cabs.
The G215 will get a head shell to look like a C5/SV vintage style.
The G50 is heading to Reverb, unless someone here is interested.
(not going to bother with a classifieds post - PM me and I'll let it go cheap)

No pics of the 3210 yet, but here's the new office layout with the micros gone.
Just imagine a 3210 instead of the G50...

Now that is an Office I could get into going to every day. How do you like that Katana? Never owned a 3210 but have very fond memories playing a borrowed 3210 with the matching 4x10 cab at one of the first gigs I ever played. Second to be exact. Hard rock originals and covers and I was playing thru a Fender amp not really suited for that music. The guitarist in the other band that was on the gig asked me if I wanted to use it and I jumped at the chance. I was young and didn't really know the ins and out's of Marshalls, just knew it was a Marshall and sounded just like it needed to for our set. I felt like a rock star playing thru that half stack !

Awesome amp.
I have a few other semi-modeling amps - Spark40 & Code25.
Hooked up to the Boss Tone Studio on a laptop, it blows away the little guy's apps with versatility.
I'm still wading through all the possibilities, but the Katana is a keeper.

Thanks for the 3210 info.
I've been wanting to add a MOSFET Marshall to the arsenal.
Seemed like a perfect match for the pair of 2x10 columns.
Looking forward to it.

Congrats on the inbound 3210
I am sure you will dig it..
When I used to play mine before getting the Dsl40c’s, I used to use a Vox Tone Lab, set to their version of a 1987, and delay an tube overdrive. I had great results, but after getting the Dsl40c’s, it became a 3’rd amp in the rig..
They can get quite loud..

I live near the local UPS DC, so I'm always the last deliver of the day...
But at last, the 3210 has arrived.
Quick test to check that everything was functional.
Came with no footswitch (I knew that), and no power cord.
Tried it out with the O20H 2 button FS and everything is functional.
Also tried a 1 button FS and the reverb stays on and the channel switches - I might just use that.

Some picks on the dining table / workbench:

Serial # - I think the X means 1989?

3210-04.jpg

Pulled the chassis for a look-see and cleaning and found this written in the cab.
"Mods by Paul (something) 2-2-09"?

Figured I should post some gut shots.
I don't see anything crazy like some of the photos I've see here, but I'm mostly clueless on circuits.

I can post more pics if anyone sees something odd.
Amp sounds great - no complaints.
Going to clean it up and rock it for a while.

Found the inspection sticker on the side - 1989

Cleaned up nice - this amp is in great shape for 33 years old.
Definitely wasn't hauled around to gigs for years, hardly a mark on it.
Almost feel guilty about my plans to strip it and go green & faded basketweave...

3210-11.jpg

... nope, that guilt feeling just passed.

What you got against black n gold?..lol..
Black n' gold n'at are my sports colors, no daht abaht it !

I was actually expecting the amp to be a bit more road worn, so to speak.
Near pristine condition is a little surprising.
And, well, I already bought the tolex and grill cloth, so there's a level of commitment...

My biggest concern was the riveted corners, so I googled how to remove Marshall corner rivets.
Watched a vid of some dingus using a chisel and a screwdriver and decided I had a better idea.
Took a $2 mini pry bar and filed the claw end to a thin bevel, and then cut a round groove with a chainsaw file.
3210-13.jpg
Tapped it under the corner to loosen the rivet, then under the rivet.
3210-14.jpg3210-15.jpg
Pops 'em right out.

Got the old tolex off in one piece.
Not sure why people have a problem with this.
3210-17b.jpg
Rough sanded the stripped shell to remove any old thick glue spots and where there were screw holes and such.
3210-17.jpg
Waiting for new glue to set up.
3210-18.jpg
Wrapped it up and riveted the corners back on with some shiny new rivets.
