Ive always been a greenback fanboi since I switched over from Mesa Mark IV to a Super Lead clone....I’m looking for something different to try out with a band... I am looking at these choices: Amp would be a Fargen 1968 Lead/Bass clone.

Celestion Alnico Gold
Celestion G12-65
Celestion V-Type
Celestion CL-80

All opinions are welcome... Pros and cons...

Depends on the sound / style you're after.

Creamback M and H pair exceptionally well. G12-65 would be my second choice.

AlNiCo is the way to go. I'd opt for the Cream, but the Gold should also perform well.

In Joe Bonamassa's most recent interview with Sweetwater which I have posted he recommended Celestion CL-80. He said Keef also uses that speaker.
Worth checking it out.

G12H75 Creamback. Or G12M65 Creamback. Maybe G12T75s for a more scooped Kiss type tone.

The g12-65 (NOT creamback) is very sweet sounding with a plexi.

in a 412 cab I'd go 2 celestion classic lead x 2 eminence man o war. Very big sound for me when I had borrowed a JMP. Or my current setup, classic lead x weber silver wolf. It's like the 12T-75 but with firmer lows-low mid

G12H-75 CB mixed with either a V30 or WGS Retro 30 (The cab itself will dictate which "30") I have one of each.
When trying new speakers look for used, cheaper to buy and they will sound better. None of these speakers sound any good until they are broke in. The few WGS I have tried took a long time to break in, then they were good. Good luck.

You already have them, but I'd vote G12T75's. I also like the G12H30 55H. Between the two, my H30 loaded cabs have been collecting dust for a few years since I went back to the 75's. In my experience (well, at least to my ears), the 75's are pretty hard to beat.

I’ve used a CL-80 for years, but not for the early Anthrax sound. Quite the opposite; I use it with my edge-of-breakup 18 Watter clone as a pedal platform. Jangley ‘80s new wave and post-punk.
