Does anyone here have experience tweaking wahs for tone? I've got a Vox that I've pretty much changed most of the components on, attempting to replicate an old Thomas Organ italian wah. Dual fasel inductors, 68k R3, Q1 and Q2 NTE123 silver can transistors, tru-bypass, C1 .047mf, R8 470ohm.
The only thing I haven't mucked with is the pot...it's the stock 100k "hot-potz 1".
The problem is the interesting wah effect only seems to occur in the front 1/4 of the treadle travel, the rest is muddy super-scooped bassy mush.
I have the pot adjusted almost all the way forward. I want the wah effect to be more evenly spread over the entire travel of the pedal.
It's the Vox 847. A gut shot and schematic are attached.

It's been a while since I've looked through various wah values. Here is the schematic I always used

What is the value of your C5? This will move the whole sweep range. Stock value is .01 and is C2 on the schem above.

Thanks clutch71. First, your schem's component id's are different than mine. Sweep cap on yours is c2, and on mine it's c5. It's between the emitter of Q2 and the inductor.....stock value .01mf.
Strangely enough I haven't experimented with this value.

I did edit my post sorry if there was any confusion.

I have that thread on my journey.

At the end of the day I ended back on stock values. I felt the inductor, lower gain transistors, and the tropical fish on the .01 caps made the most difference.

I still wish I had more travel and may shorten my rubber feet this weekend.

What about adding a resistor in series with the heel side lug of the wah pot. That should push the sweep forward I think
