Just messin' around with my new 1989 JCM 800 2210. I am really loving the smooth saturation that this head delivers.

I've spent some time working on Always with Me, Always with You and virtually no time with Revelation. I only picked up Revelation recently while watching Satch's Live DVD in Montreal, so it is not even close. Since it is a long song, I only played half of it.

Master Volume on the head is about 0.8, so it was recorded slightly above conversation level.

Only difference between the two songs is the OD pedal. I used the Ibanez TS-808 on Always with Me to get a stronger midrange tone and the Fulltone Fulldrive on Revelation for a little more modern tone. On Revelation, the opening rhythm is the amp only, no OD pedal. Delay provided by an MXR Carbon Copy in the loop.

Playing is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but hope these videos demonstrate how sweet the 2210 sounds, even with a Flip camera!! :)

Thanks for listening!

Beautiful DP. You made the 2210 cry. Not everyone can play those amps. Sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing with us. Another killer tone from Marshall stock hotrod.

David

Can you share with us a little more about the use of your cab, speakers, settings, etc...?

Thanks. Respectfully. I love these amps.

David,

Wow! Thanks for listening and the kind words. Coming from you is such an honor. Much respect my friend.

Here is the gear used:

1989 Marshall JCM 800 2210, Marshall 1960BX with 25 W Greenbacks and Marshall JCM 900 1960B with G12T-75's (the Greenbacks are closer to the Flip Camera so they appear to have a greater impact on the tone). Note the 75's are well worn in from the 90's.

PRS Custom 24 - 2012 - with 59/09 Pick-Ups.

Pedals - Boss NS-2, MXR Carbon Copy (in amp FX loop). Ibanez TS808 Reissue for Always with Me...and Fulltone Fulldrive II Mosfet for Revelation.

Settings on the OD's - Overdrive = 730A, Level = 430P, Tone = 9A

For Revelation, the rhythm in the beginning of the song is only the 2210, no OD.

2210 Settings: Presence = 4, Master Volume = 0.8, Reverb = Off, Bass = 8, Mids = 5, Treble = 4.5, Channel Volume = 8.5, Gain = 7.5

I am truly in love with the 2210. Such great tone! Thanks for encouraging me in this direction David!

Hey Darryl, I'm glad to hear another skilled craftsman put this amp to use. I do not get the hate for this amp. I believe it was Marshalls answer to many demanded request's with the added (Diode mod), Split Channel, On Board Reverb and Effects Loop. Just run it like a 2203 with an OD pedal and a bit of a different feel for the Volume+Volume+Gain and the amp saturates and hits harmonics I never got with any other amp in the 80's. Not to mention the shear power and volume of this giant. Oh and the clarity.

Thank you Marshall. When I am done screwing around with my other amps I plug into my 1989 JCM 800 2210 and just Smile. :wow:

David

Totally awesome! I loved both of them. Two of my favourite Satriani songs too.
I want to record a cover of Always With sometimes myself..

I like the PRS, the marshalls, the tone, the playing! ;) WIN
