Weird Set-up - Sounded Great

hey yesterday we had band practice at my mates house
and i was told not to take my amp, we turned up and i was told
i was using the p.a and a distortion pedal.
i was a bit confused at the start
but then i plugged in, and it sounded fantastic
the pedal was a Line 6 Dr. Distortion.

just thourght i would share my story with you

Sorry vintager, i dont have a clue,

i imagine it was a pretty good one,
my mates dad used to be in a pretty good band
it is the p.a they used

I've done that too, and it's cool, but unless you have a really good PA with lots of crossovers etc, it's not as good as miking an amp IMHO. The PA is good at taking lots of mic sources and can project all of it cleanly. But I question how well it can deal with a guitar signal straight; it might step all over the other sources, or get lost in the mix. Sort of like two guitarists sharing one amp.

Also, I do some stuff like pressing the guitar neck against my speaker cabinet to get unlimited sustain and feedback effects...I couldn't do that with a PA!
