Here's some progress build pics if you're interested.
Turning an AVT100 combo into a half slant A style cab.
1st pic is what the cab looked like from the back prior to mods.
Had to remove that glued and stapled in divider and fixed baffle.

c01.jpg

Next was re-aligning the face frame.
The combo had a double angled front.
There was a gradual slant up to the chassis, and then a drastic slant at the control panel.
Sliced off a uniform thickness of the existing front.

c02.jpg

Then I had to square up the cab to reattach the face so the bottom of the slant would be vertical.

c03.jpg

Put in some spacer material to get the bottom back to the correct depth after the butchery so far.
All glued and clamped - wood glue on particle board is like welding steel...

c04.jpg

Using the old short back panel and that divider shelf that was removed, I reconstructed the sides for a slant fixed baffle, and filled in the top slant face frame.
Lots of gluing and sanding (sculpting with a belt sander) to get down to the finished frame radius.
Used some of the pieces from the face frame to index where to sand the new stuff down to.
Also extended the top & bottom of the old fixed baffle.

c05.jpg

That was all last weekend's shenanigans - you may have seen the cab at this state in my O50H NAD thread.
Today started with a rattle can of filler primer on the cab and got all the pieces laid out and cut for the half slant grill frame.

c06.jpg

Glued up and clamped the grill frame.

c07.jpg

Cut a new back panel and gave everything a coat of black stain.

c08.jpg

Chopped up the old too short grill frame to salvage a logo plate.
Cut it to a bevel to match the half slant and more glue & clamps.

c09.jpg

So, here's where I call it a day, and let everything set up and dry a bit before diving into tolex and such.

That looks like more work than making a new cab! Better man than me lol
I had similar thoughts about halfway through the process... :hmm:
Probably saved about $50 in materials.
But other than the new back & grill frame, the cab is still all Marshall - just rearranged a bit... :D

Don't have time for tolex today, but I decided to get the new cab functional so i could hook up the rig.
Mounted the Tone Tubby Alnico's in both cabs.

c11.jpg

Series switching jack plate in the new cab back.
Don't need it for the 16 ohm TT's, but ready if I want to run some 8 ohm speakers.

c12.jpg

Reversed RI pinstripe, logo & piping on the half slant grill frame.

c13.jpg

Stack assembled and functional w/ the Boss board from the 20.
Loving this amp upgrade - no regrets.
Might pop the B cab grill & redo that later if I have some time to kill.

I thought you guys were 'merican! Bigger is bigger!

Looking good, by the way.
plexi heads just don't look right w/ larger emblems...

one of my buddies has a '70s metal face & the emblem was broke off. He found that the new 6" wouldn't fit right, so he had some guy install a bigger one. It just doesn't look right, now he has big holes in the face.

I wasn't around for that escapade, otherwise, I would have told him to leave it alone. He was talking about getting the small cheque' replaced w/ standard large checque'. I talked him out of that. If he would have wanted to do it sooner, he would have...

I told him about the head, if he wanted it to look all shiny & new, he should have had a brand new shiny one (copy) made & put the old one in storage & leave it be...

Some updates - got some time after yardwork to tolex the A cab:

Here's a pic of the Bronco tolex compared to the O50H.
I think it's closer to the Origin tolex than Levant. (see other cab below)

c16.jpg

Started off with cutting string piping grooves and cup handle holes.
I'm not a fan of top handles on speaker cabs, and the cup handles work fine on 1x12's.

Sanded down any lumpy stuff with some 100g.
That filler primer and stain from last weekend hardened up any stickiness from the old adhesive.

c17.jpg

Once I get into new adhesive and cutting corners, I forget to take progress pics, so here, it's done...
The B cab will be another time - but planning to give it the same procedure.
Might still put the corners back on but not sure yet.

Finished up the "B" cab over the weekend.
Stripped it, cut the string piping grooves, cup handle holes and a coat of stain.
Nothing structural, just a cosmetic make-over to match the "A" cab.
c22.jpg
One-off 1x12's for the O50H.
Still debating the string piping on the logo plate... :hmm:

It just doesn't look right, now he has big holes in the face.

...I understand your point of view, but there was no need to get physical with him - it's his amp....

I think the "6+9+9" looks good, since the head is smaller than each cab (even though the Ori head doesn't have the horizontal triming).

I'd say stick w/ 6" & add the gold string...

plexi heads just don't look right w/ larger emblems...

Agree, I'd keep the 6, too, FWIW.
