Here's some progress build pics if you're interested.
Turning an AVT100 combo into a half slant A style cab.
1st pic is what the cab looked like from the back prior to mods.
Had to remove that glued and stapled in divider and fixed baffle.
Next was re-aligning the face frame.
The combo had a double angled front.
There was a gradual slant up to the chassis, and then a drastic slant at the control panel.
Sliced off a uniform thickness of the existing front.
Then I had to square up the cab to reattach the face so the bottom of the slant would be vertical.
Put in some spacer material to get the bottom back to the correct depth after the butchery so far.
All glued and clamped - wood glue on particle board is like welding steel...
Using the old short back panel and that divider shelf that was removed, I reconstructed the sides for a slant fixed baffle, and filled in the top slant face frame.
Lots of gluing and sanding (sculpting with a belt sander) to get down to the finished frame radius.
Used some of the pieces from the face frame to index where to sand the new stuff down to.
Also extended the top & bottom of the old fixed baffle.
That was all last weekend's shenanigans - you may have seen the cab at this state in my O50H NAD thread.
Today started with a rattle can of filler primer on the cab and got all the pieces laid out and cut for the half slant grill frame.
Glued up and clamped the grill frame.
Cut a new back panel and gave everything a coat of black stain.
Chopped up the old too short grill frame to salvage a logo plate.
Cut it to a bevel to match the half slant and more glue & clamps.
So, here's where I call it a day, and let everything set up and dry a bit before diving into tolex and such.
