    Fryette PS-2a vs. PS-100

Yeah, I am probably overthinking the the tube thing. But I figured, both units sharing the same limited enclosure space (and ventilation) but with larger and hotter tubes could lead to a shorter lifespan in general. But you are right, I seldom have had to replace tubes. In fact, most of the...

    Fryette PS-2a vs. PS-100

Great info, thank you. And that is some generous gift from your wife! 👍

    Fryette PS-2a vs. PS-100

Thank you very much for testing that out! :h5: Still deciding... I don't think I've ever put THIS much thought into gear before. But I still have a couple of weeks to decide.

    Fryette PS-2a vs. PS-100

In the loop, I'll likely use a delay mostly, then reverb or tremelo - depending on the situation. But you raise a good point about trails. I cannot remember anyone addressing that yet. But the foot switchable secondary channel is most appealing to me. At the same time, that can be circumvented...

    Fryette PS-2a vs. PS-100

Than you! In what you wrote above, (highlighted in red) does that also seem evident while attenuating down at lower volume levels - or more so when the amp is pushed with the PS-100?

    1987x Boost?

I don't have a 1987x, but in general the Zvex Super Duper is great. It retains their Super Hard-on single boost circuit, while adding an additional gain/boost stage. You can also use it as a light overdrive while both channels are engaged (they work together or independently) but I prefer to...

first jam with SV20C - questions about speaker/cabinet/tone

For what it's worth, when I had the SV20C and used it on a gig, I was very surprised by how well it did with the stock 10" V-Type (I usually prefer greens, creams and alnico blues). I jumped the channels; normal on 5, high treb on 2.5 and it cut through the band mix very well and really added...

    Fryette PS-2a vs. PS-100

Thank you for voting and especially for your opinion. :) I value it very much; especially coming from an electronics designer. While I have been leaning more towards the PS-2a, I still wanted to get input from those who have used both and thier experiences comparing the two. I mentioned in...

    Fryette PS-2a vs. PS-100

I will be purchasing one of these Power Stations. No changing my mind on this. And a lot of my decision came from some of the valuable input by a lot of members on this forum in a similar thread I made recently. But... Being very 'anal' and wanting to best assure that the one I get is THE...

What are your favorite 6V6 tubes?

I had great experience with original RCA (US made) 6V6's. After that, Sylvania and GT's (rebranded) and in more recent times JJ and Ruby did the job for a variety of tubes in general. I recently got a pair of Electro-Harmonix branded 6V6's and so far, so good. But they aren't time-tested...

Help choosing new amp. SV20C as a dedicated bedroom amp?

Thanks. Sounds like you have a great little setup.👍 Do you happen to know if your G12M-65 is manufactured in the UK, or are they now made in China? I know that production of greenbacks has returned to the UK, but wasn't sure about the cream's.

    SV20, 1987 and 1959 Comparison

Not surprised about The Plex. I think Dave Friedman made some tremendous efforts to nail that special tone with that model.

    SV20, 1987 and 1959 Comparison

For sure. The only benefits of the SV20 (in my case) was lighter weight to transport, smaller foot print and cost. The 1987x or 1959 are without hesitation superior. I just thought only in this particular video demo that the SV20 shined and might have had an edge in tone during certain moments...

    SV20, 1987 and 1959 Comparison

He seems pretty transparent as to what mics and other gear he uses to capture his sounds. But you never know... he might have modded gear that he doesn't mention.

    SV20, 1987 and 1959 Comparison

Solid points and I do agree. In this demonstration, where all were recorded under similar conditions, even with the pre-amp similarities, quality of tone can vary a bit, I think. With that said, I was still surprised that the SV20 sounded as close as it did. And again, in real-world/in-person...

    SV20, 1987 and 1959 Comparison

In this particular video comparison by Johan Segeborn, (especially during the first 3 or so minutes) I might actually like the sound of the SV20 best. What are your thoughts? I am also including a poll.

Tone King Ironman II or Fryette PS-2

It certainly would! Only thing is that the Jensen that the reissue deluxe's are fitted with only handle 40-watts. So I'd have to be careful with re-amping too high. I might even switch out the stock Oxford I have on my '69 Prinecton to a 10" 40-watt equivalent speaker to play is safe and not...

Tone King Ironman II or Fryette PS-2

Oh yes, I am VERY anal about my stuff so it's a no-brainier that I'd get the Fryette carry case! (and it fits either versions) A little pricey being around $70 - but a must have. I've heard great things about the Ox AND the Waza - but for 'attenuation', they aren't as revered as the Tone King or...

Tone King Ironman II or Fryette PS-2

That's great to know! You probably also take good care of your gear. But it also speaks volumes for the Fryette quality. Still trying to decide on the PS-2 vs 100, but I'm completely sold on getting one of them.
