Does anyone know if when you bias a Dunlop Fuzz Face with a multi meter, if the effect needs to be 'on' or 'off', or does it matter? No one seems to know, Dunlop claims it's top secret, so taking a shot someone here has the answer.
Thanks.
Thanks. And no issues with the Tweaker? It seems purer to me as well. I tried the X2 combo, but it had bad tube rattling so thought maybe the head is the answer. With pedals the X2 combo wasn't quite there for me on ch 2, weird artifacts and fizzy noises (I didn't try the Fuse software however)...
Considering getting one of these soon and looking for opinions. I play mostly classic rock, (Led Zep, Cream, etc.), but also like Eric Johnson's tone. I have pedals to use with it, Voodoo Lab Giggity, Sparkle Drive Mod, echo, reverb, chorus and a fuzz face. This would be for home use only, btw...
Stock tube was bad. Assuming it's not the new JJ, what would be the next likely culprit? Also, is there something in the amp circuit that could make power tubes go bad after awhile?
My C5 purchased in 2011, (new version) doesn't seem to be as loud as when I first got it. Remember not being able to turn it up past 10 o'clock without shaking the windows. Now, I need to crank it to almost 1 o'clock or get a decent volume. Have new JJ EL84 in there, plus some new JJ ECC83's...
Mick Taylor live with Stones circa 1972. Love in Vain, Gimme Shelter, wonderful feel, and tone. Les Paul and a really big Ampeg. Eric Johnson has a great live version of Cliffs of Dover somewhere on youtube is which is fantastic as well. Page, Beck, Gilmore all have a place in this category for me.
Pulled the trigger and got me a loaded guard. Night and day difference between DAllen's and stock '86 MIJ Strat pups. New set is much quieter (very little noise or hum), fuller, more articulate. The old pups sounded horrible in the Class 5 and would pick up electrical interference from some guy...
Some have the 'smiley' face, some don't. Any difference in quality? Or can you tell when the fuzz face was made, based on whether it has the 'smile' or not.
So want to sell my Plimsoul, it's a good versatile unit, but think maybe a fuzz face and something like a TS808 type may work better. That way I can have just fuzz, or just od, or have them on together. Any thoughts or recommendations? Like either the Hendrix FF or the red germanium FF by Dunlop...
I have a 1986 MIJ Strat and want to replace the pu's in it. Current ones don't sound very good in my book, brittle, harsh and kind of weak overall. So for under $200 for the set, what is a good option? Been looking at the Fender Fat 50's, Texas Specials, and Dimarzio True Velvets. Would like...
I have one and it's sounds great with my C5. Love the plate reverb setting. Do recommend you get a 9v adapter however, they eat batteries up real fast. As others have said you may have just got a defective one.
What is the difference between these two pedals? Are there any similarities in what they accomplish? Also, do they use different kinds of chips?
Regards.
Any thoughts out there regarding this cabinet? GC has them for around $59, (yes $59). Been wanting to get an ext cabinet for the C5 combo I have and run it thru a 12 in speaker sometimes. Are they too cheaply made or ok? Can't tried it out in person unfortunately.
Regards.
Is a heavier string gauge on a Strat more likely to buzz vs. a lighter gauge? For instance, using an .18 G instead of a .17. Getting some rattle/buzz currently with D'Addario lights .10-.46 on the my Strat at G and D strings at different spots on the neck.
Is there any issue with running the C5 combo thru a 1 x12 cabinet with speaker rated at 100 watts RMS? One guy at music store said they weren't compatible, but I was under the assumption that as long as the cabinet/speaker is rated at more watts than the amp it would be ok. Appreciate the truth...
Played the C5 today and noticed the rattle/sympathy vibration happens very loudly on G note at 12th fret on the G string and D string 17th fret (same note of course), doesn't happen on other G notes (open g string, etc), so much Tried both a Strat and a Les Paul got the same result. It is louder...
