Plenty loud, but would like the security of more headroom if needed. Got some gigs that are a little out of the norm coming up soon and I won't know about the PA set up until the day of the gig.
Just got me thinking about maybe getting an amp that can get me the Class 5 clean tone at louder...
I'm pretty new to Marshall, and I have a Class 5. I've been playing Fender amps my whole life, but when the Class 5 came out I had to try it and now there is no better tone for my Strat!
The problem is seemingly the 5 watts. Is there anything close to the Class 5 as far as clean tone goes...
This is a 2 part question...
First of all, are tube changes on a Class 5 as simply as taking out the old and putting in the new? What else do I have to do?
Secondly, I'm going to the store today to pick up some new tubes. What is a decently brand that won't cost me an arm and a leg...what...
I've got a set of two 12" 16ohm 70W Jet City Eminence Speakers from my brand new Jet City 2x12 JCA24S Cab for sale.
They sound pretty darn good, but I'm a tinkerer!
Trades welcome, asking $39 + shipping for each, $75 for the set.
I haven't really looked into the Haze series much, but I've heard they have reliability issues and I'm sure they are more modern gain oriented.
I like the Class 5 because it is like a little Plexi or Bluesbreaker
I just received my Jet City 2x12 cab a couple days ago...sounds pretty good to me! I am running my Marshall Class 5 and my Fender Blues Jr through the cab (not at the same time though).
Both amps benefit from the cab. They are more full and bigger sounding. I've got to give the edge at this...
haha niiiice....
Actually I'm waiting for the head too...until then, my new setup will do...I'm going to eventually throw a Greenback and Vintage 30 in it.
I can't believe how full and lively this amp sounds now...more clear, and increased headroom!
You know, I've mainly gigged with the Blues Jr up to this point due to the 15W, but I took my Class 5 to church and it ROCKED. I mean, I don't need a lot of volume because we have to drummer, but it cut through and sounded pretty huge!
I had only taken it once before and I didn't care for the...
For about 2 months now, I have been gigging a Blues Jr III at my church. I've been annoyed with the ice pick sound and the lack of a good bottom end. I play mainly Southern Gospel and Blues style leads...
So, I decided I'd take my Class 5 to church this weekend. I never really took it before...
Please excuse me if this isn't the right section for this thread but....
I've heard a lot about the Class 5 Head and cab. Does anyone know when they will be released? I'd be interested in the head, but was curious how much they will be.
You can say that again! volume really is never an issue, but the way my blues jr has to point basically means 3/4 of the church just hear a muffled mess.
My goal is to get all the instruments mic'd, but none of us have faith in the soundman. He is a great person, but he has no musical ear...
Our band is small...just acoustic rhythm, piano, and bass. My EQ on the Class 5 is Treble 3 oclock, Mids noon, Bass all the way down.
I feel like my amps are a little uni-directional, so I was hoping a 2x12 would help fill the room better. I've "heard" that 2x12 cabs help give the amps a...
I play at a small to medium size church. My Class 5 and Blues Jr are both PLENTY loud. That isn't the issue. I need more stage presence and cut. I get lost in the mix and I find myself turning up too loud.
I'm looking at a 2x12 cab right now, but it is 8ohm mono, 16ohm stereo. The Class 5...
