    Need advice - dsl 50 or jcm 900 4100?

well...I went with the JCM 900 4100. And I really love it. I get great sounds, even at bedroom volumes.

    JCM 900 Advice--NEWBIE

I would do the 50W, so I could knock it down to 25W. I have the 100W JCM900 HGDR running into a 1960AC cab. It is stupid loud. It will rattle the windows with vol. on 4. You could play in a stadium with a 100W half stack.

    Multi fx help.

to each his own... I have the GT-10...and if you are willing to tweak the sound, you can get whatever you want out of it. It gets a bad rap for some of the out-of-the-box patches. And it also gets a bad rap, because some people aren't willing to read the user's manual. Big mistake. One pass...

    ***Pick, Strings, Technique***

Overall....I love to try new things. So... Strings: EB Slinkys on right now. Love em. Tried Elixirs...didn't like them at all. I have a package of Cleartone coated strings to try once the current set of Slinkys wears out. Definitely want to try Boomers, DRs and D'As at some point...

    Gigging with out an amp?

I leave the half-stack at home and use a Boss GT-10 direct into the PA. (weekend church services) No reason to blow the roof off with the 100W HGDR. ha. I think the GT-10 sounds awesome with my Marshall too. I have it setup with 4-cables and use the Marshall as the preamp, and cut out all...

    Marshall 4X12 BC 25W speakers

    Marshall 2x12 - Worth it?

I wish I had a 1936 instead of my 1960ac...much easier to haul around. edit: ....and PLENTY loud.

    JCM 900 MK3 vs JCM900 SL-X

you're definitely not the only one... I love my HGDR...it whips some serious ass. It can get out of control, but if you know what you're doing, it sounds awesome, IMO. I'm running mine through a 1960AC cab, and love it.

how well does half power work on JCM 900

I have a 100W dual reverb and I wish I had the 50W. I bet I will never use the 100W setting. It's crazy loud.

    JCM 900 4100 Clean Channel?

I think it is a really good clean. And yes...you can get some good crunch with the gain.

    Low cost 4x12 alternatives

I got my Marshall 1960AC with classic greenbacks on craigslist for $500. It is in pristine condition. I wish I had a 1936 2x12 or one of those wide Avatar 1x12s to haul around instead. Hauling a 4x12 around sucks.

so...sounds like the answer is - make sure you have a speaker load.

Line Out vs Mic'd amp PA questions, please help

total noob question....but you still (and always) need a speaker load even if you are connecting your amp head to a PA through the "recording compensated line out" jack, correct? Was just thinking, that if the answer to the above question was "no", then I could haul my JCM900 and hook into a PA...

    JCM 900 Retube with what..

something is definitely wrong... I have the same amp and on the 100W setting I can hardly get it past 4 on the master volume before the house shakes.
