    Also if you buy new tubes buy from a well known dealer that pre screens their tubes and "burns in" their power tubes. Also if a tube is micro phonic allots times doesn't mean it is garbage just not good for gain stages.still good later stages of the amp.

    By "boxy" I mean the boost channel seems to have a boxy hard clipped sound,kinda 900'y my 2554 I had did it also(but worse yuck!)my 2210 which has diode clipping is MUCH smoother.That's why I was wondering if swapping diodes would change that or if the clipping circuit itself was the culprit...

    G12H-30 or G12M Greenback

    I prefer G12M over G12H. I've had RI G12M in a 4x12 they were good but a hair bright. 60s G12M are much warmer and darker and smoother. I've had both a cream back G12H and 70th ann model sound the same to me. To me is 60s G12M then G12H(either one)then RI G12M

    I love my 2210 I used to use a Sd-1 but found it killed some of my guitars body low end I'm using a Mxr micro amp and am much happier. I'm mainly a strat guy so mileage may vary
