What Mods do you have on your Marshall head?

I have a JCM800 that I added a 100K resistor off the wiper(middle lug) of the Master Volume. It helps it sound beefier at lower MV settings. I sadly cannot get above 2 at any indoor gig. It doesn't affect the tone at higher MV settings.

    It Sucks To Be Right/dsl40cr!

This is the board that has to be replaced. Service sent me 2 different versions of it (pretty easy install, just remove a screw and the push on connector loom and pull it out), unfortunately neither fixed the problem and they told me I had to send the amp in for service. I appreciate their...

Is there a solution to DSL40CR midi switching?

@KraftyBob, I have used my HX Effects to change channels on a relay based TRS amp. There was no latency at all on the switching, but I did have to build a custom relay box to make it work. The amp switching was based on the Marshall Jubilee style switching where LED current flows through the...

Is there a solution to DSL40CR midi switching?

I was in contact with Marshall Support and they sent me out 2 new midi logic boards which I installed in the amp. The first one was a wash (the Effects Loop switching no longer required off/on cycle on power up but effects loop switching didn't work where it did prior), and the second one...

Is there a solution to DSL40CR midi switching?

Thanks for the details @TheCrunge , that is exactly what I'm doing. I'm using instant commands within the snapshots. CC #14 value 1 and value 0 for the MV switching. I've tried 3 different 'midi brain modules' in the amp and none of them are working properly. The latest one works for the...

Is there a solution to DSL40CR midi switching?

@Paul H. I used to do all individual pedals and I still have them all. The HX just can’t do what my Boss CE-2 does. I’ve learned to live with that. For switching I used a musicomlab looper that had midi and relay switching. It works really well. I have a phone app that switches the preset for...

Is there a solution to DSL40CR midi switching?

I'll try the HX Effects volume boost again as an alternative to the MV switching on the amp. I did try that at one point and I felt like I couldn't get enough of a volume jump to make it stand out (I had the boost in the loop where I figured I'd get more of an overall volume jump vs. just more...

Is there a solution to DSL40CR midi switching?

Thanks everyone for chiming in, I really appreciate everyone’s input! I guess I’m not sure if I feel relieved it’s not just me or if I feel super bummed that an amp that sounds this good just can’t work for me. Sounds like it’s sadly onto something else. Again, thanks to everyone who chimed...

Is there a solution to DSL40CR midi switching?

Hi all, I got a 11/2017 Marshall DSL40CR used for a good price. I for the most part love the tones in this amp. The clean is great and the drives are generally classic Marshall. All good. My problem is with midi switching via a HX Effects. I’ve been in touch with Marshall support and to their...

    It Sucks To Be Right/dsl40cr!

Reviving this old thread as I have a similar issue, except with midi. I saw someone post this same issue as well early in the thread. I'm using a Line 6 HX Effects to midi switch a DSL40CR. The PC change requests can change between the 4 modes of the amp without issue. I've also had success...
