Looks like a nice start I bet it will be a nice sounding pre. What are you thinking for the other two channels? Are you going with independent TMB tone stacks? How are you switching the channels? Also, what kind of power section are you going with?
Just curious...this is the kind of...
As an "irregular" here, I will chime in a bit. I *am not* an amp tech...not in my real life anyway. I "don't" know everything I need to know about amps. I build, I modify, I play, I fix...but I am not a tech. I am, however, a "degreed" electrical engineer with a pretty thorough knowledge of...

Not sure why the Tourmaster 4100 never really got its due, but that is a killer 4 channel amp. 4 individual channels with independent tone stacks, Reverb, Effects loop (Serial or Parallel), loaded with features...but one of the most flexible things is the Power Grid (100/50/25W or...
This ^.
With the IEC receptacle, just figure out which one of the leads is goes to hot (black) and which one goes to common (white). Connect the center pin (green) to the chassis.
I am on the road for a few days but if you can wait until I get home later this week I can send you a diagram of how to wire it with the IEC receptacle.
Those bias caps are most definitely *not* 100uF's...maybe 10uF's? Maybe the bypass caps are 100uF's, that would make a little more sense.
Regardless, I would bite the bullet and get parts from Tube Depot or Tubes and More...Radio Shack will typically sell you the cheapest shit they can at the...
The big Mallory can caps may still be good, all of my Traynors were still good and probably still are...but I took them out of the circuit anyway. Why risk it? Just get some similar (50+50uF) or same (if you can find them) high voltage caps and wire them in place...there is plenty of room on...
Thank you for taking the time to comment on this. I looked around the site you linked, very impressive! I take it you seem to know what you are talking about. Much appreciated!
I use Visio for schematics...I don't really do layouts much. Here is an example of an amp I designed using old Hammond Organ transformers and power section in a quasi Tweed Super circuit with hardwired "jumpered" input and a Lar-Mar style Master Volume.
If it has the original 7442 10" Celestions, they are 10W speakers and a super sweet. An early mid-rangey breakup that just drips with character. When I bought mine, one was blown, which I had re-coned at Weber using their cone kit that they supplied to Scumback for there 10" GB clones. I have...
First off, it is always difficult to troubleshoot remotely without being able to check out the circuit. You could have any myriad of issues. Have you checked the reverb driver "send" tube? Try changing that for another known good tube. It sounds like the return circuit works. If it is not...
Also, regarding guitar cabs, I have a '67 Marshall 8x10 cab with the original 7442 Greenback 10" drivers. These are 10W speakers...and old! The guy that I purchased the cab from (for a song!) was a bass player and said he purchased it in the mid seventies to play bass through. He said it...
I was jamming with a group of friends a few weeks ago and the bass player that we usually get together with wasn't available. One of the guys decided to play bass through an older Fender solid state 2x12, I believe it was an Ultimate Chorus or something like that. It really sounded weak...
My experience is that the black plates I have tried, RCA, Tungsol and Raytheon, are all excellent tubes, however, they all have relatively "lower" gain and seem "flatter", so less coloration. They sound nice and are harmonically rich compared to most new production. Not the best and not the...
That is what I would suggest too...just get a replacement and throw the original in the attic or something. When (if) it comes time to sell, offer the original.
That should work...hopefully the input/output impedance specs are aligned. The isolated input jack should prevent a ground loop, so hopefully you will not hear any additional hum. I just don't know how the reverb return circuit is wired, but hopefully the grounds will work out. If you find...
Hey, I really don't know. I suppose I would say go with the Input Insulated and Output Grounded, or both Insulated, but it is a crap shoot. You have a 1 in 4 chance, which is better than Russian Roulette I suppose.
