Hi guys posting this on behalf of a friend, He has an all original (confirmed by marshall) full working Straight 8 x 10. As you can see from the pic its in very good condition. Trying to find some more info on this. We have been told that there where only 6 made straight ones made can anyone confirm this?, there are a few angled ones around but the straight ones are very rare. We do not know if this is true? Apparently deep purple used them lying on the side hence them being straight not angled so they could have two heads on the speaker.

He made consider selling it , anyone got a idea how much it maybe worth. check out the link to photo below. Obviously it the bottom cab in the photo ( going to get some better pics up soon).

I have played this speaker personnel and it sounds great but is its massive!!!!

Cool cabinet, but limited interest as a collectible. I wouldn't hazard a price on it but it's not going to be easy to sell for any kind of big bucks as few people seem to want it. You'll need to use eBay or another national advertising medium to get the best price.

If you're using it, just keep it and enjoy a rare piece of Marshall history! Whatever money it fetches, it won't be enough.

I have an 8x10 slant with original 7442's that is seriously smoking. I only play my sub-50W amps through it, because I love this cab more than any other and would hate for it to get damaged.

When I was pricing mine a few years ago, they were going for $700-800 on Craigslist, etc., or more on ebay. They just don't come up very often. With the straight being really rare, you could probably expect more if you can find a buyer. Most people that have played through or heard mine think it kicks ass. I agree...but it is a low power cab at 80W, so be leery of cranking through it.

Seriously, tone wise, I have several other cabs and have played through many more, but none sound as sweet to me as this one.

I've never seen that configuration and I followed Purple from the onset. Doesn't mean that they didn't, just that I've never seen it.

Here's an early Deep Purple stage shot. Cheers.

P.S. ... Seems as though The Who used these 8x10's late 60's very early 70's

I had read before that Deep Purple used 8x10's, but it was Roger, not Ritchie. But, as with all things internet, take it with a grain of salt. Also, I thought that Pete Townsend was into 8x12's until his roadies almost went on strike, which evolved into the A and B cabs we know today.

I do know that Robin Trower used to play a Model 1990 8x10 back in the Bridge of Sighs days (and most of the 70's), which is the 80W version, not the 2034 that was the 120W version. The asking price for that one listed above is definitely targeting the collector market though. Nice -but damn - would you actually want to play through that?

8x10 Marshall from 66'

Wow! That tolex looks mint! If it's original I'd keep it inside at all times; it has to be almost unique in that condition although the 8x12 is even rarer. My bass player would kill for yours! He likes 10" speakers. Is that Sunn a bass amp?

If it has the original 7442 10" Celestions, they are 10W speakers and a super sweet. An early mid-rangey breakup that just drips with character. When I bought mine, one was blown, which I had re-coned at Weber using their cone kit that they supplied to Scumback for there 10" GB clones. I have since purchased 3 replacement period correct speakers just in case I blow another one.

This thing is my favorite cab by far.

Just a little below the Angels
Everything is stock, including the grill cloth pinstripe, It's a 1969 50 watt solorus Sunn head, guitar amplifier. With 10 inch speakers and the cabinet holds about a 80 watt load.
