    Hendrix’s Marshall Settings

I saw Jimi twice in Oakland, the second time sitting front row. When the opening act, Chicago Transit Authority, had their gear taken away, someone came out and turned all of the pots on all 3 amps all the way up. The stacks were daisy chained, and the sound was great. The only thing Jimi did...

    vintage Marshall Major questions??

I have a Major that I use whenever I know I'll have somebody with me to help carry it! As for speakers, I use either a 1922 2x12 or a 1960A or 1960BV. I know, I could melt the 1922, but I never run the head at anything above 3, the sound would kill things. When I need to dirty things up I just...

What would you like to see NOW from Marshall?

O.K., I know I'm showing my age but I'd really like the prices to come back down to what they were like in the 60's & 70's. My 100w Super Lead stack cost less than my re-issue 1959 SLP head! I'd also like them to bring back the Major with the bias trim on the back. (if you think getting the...

What do you think of this JMP mk2 50 watt MV - buy or leave it?

I have the same amp in the 2x12 combo version and I love it! I use it when the venue is too small for 100 watts and I can get it back from my son. Mine was made in 1978 and I bought it for $400.00 U.S. in 1990.

    Guv'nor - Broken Input Jack

I can't believe it, I remember where I got the inputs!!!! There is a repair shop in San Francisco, CA called "Guitronics". Hal, who owns the place is a Marshall genius. He rebuilt my MkII 50W Lead combo and boosted the gain for me after I blew it up. Anyway, Hal usually has a good supply of...

    Guv'nor - Broken Input Jack

Hey Gard, I had to replace mine too and I think I got the new inputs from either stewmac.com, or Guitar Center. Not sure where you're located, but you might also try "Starving Musicians" on Shattuck Ave, Berkeley, CA. These guys have all kinds of stuff. Good luck.

    The first concert you attended

Jimi Hendrix and Vanilla Fudge at the Oakland Coliseum, it was 1968 or 1969 just before the release of "Electric Ladyland". Totally unbelievable show!

    How often do you gig?

Usually every week, but one of my keyboard players passed away 2 weeks ago and I put things on hold until the 18th in honor of him.

What amp do you have had , have or want ?

I REALLY miss my first stack! It was a Super Lead 100W, the 4x12 cabs belonged to "Blue Cheer" and were loaded with "Altec Lansing" speakers. I don't remember the model of the speakers but I can remember that the head was $75.00 and each cab was $125.00. Let me tell you, that puppy was LOUD...

whats the difference between the JCM 800 and 900?

Mornin' All, Does anybody have any info on the 250 watt Series 2000 head? I'm not talking about the DSL. I came across a reference while looking for tubes for my Major and I don't really remember this amp.

    Greatest Marshall Ever!

Hey Ledfree, I have the 2x12 version and I have to agree that it's a great amp. But..... I'm a bit torn between that my 1969 Major and my 1959SLP's. In all I've never heard a bad sounding Marshall. I really like the fact that I can link my Plexis to get even better tone, but I can use the Major...

What was your first good electric Guitar?

My first guitar was a Victoria single pickup model from Montgomery Wards $20.00. My first GOOD guitar was a 1967 Fender Stratocaster that I wish I still had.
