On my 6100 i lived on Channel 2 and pushed it with various custom overdrives i built .
I never used the 3rd channel much , sounded like A$$ imo .
The clean channel was killer !
We are also forgetting about the Marshall Custom Shop !!!
If a customer were to ask for a special 2x12 cab to match the 6100 , I'm sure it could be done etc etc .
UPDATE !!!!
I got around tonight to swap out V2 with a JAN 5751 and let'r eat !!
Thats a step in the right direction imo ... even just that helped it .
OD channel - Orange Mode was almost too much before , and just buzzy . But now i could roll up the gain to around 1/2 way .
I can't lie...
For those who asked about my cab , its a 1982 1960A JCM 800 4x12 with a pair of G12H30's and a pair of Green Backs .
This weekend I'm gonna try a different V2 preamp tube and see how that works out . Its a JAN 5751 that still tests strong .
Well ... i got a great deal on a LIKE NEW Jvm210h and now have had a 2 week introduction to this amp . I had not played one prior to buying this one . Its clearly a low hr amp as it was built in late 2021 with all the original tubes , minty shape . The option list is pretty good as well these...
Ive never had the center post installed in my cab since I've owned it , I've always thought it sounded pretty good to my old ears the way it is ...
Whats everyones thoughts ??
Should i install the center post back in it , i still have it ??
Does it help in cab tone ?
Cab pic from the net ...
Its been mentioned before on this thread about NOT to over tighten the crush blocks when installing the stings .
I was guilty of this years ago when i was playing Jackson guitars with the Schaller trems , they would break right
where the string would exit the bridge .
I'm sure if you call them , and talk to Dave , or anyone for that matter , they would send you a new one ... that one got scratched on the way over .... Ha ha ha !!!
This pic was taken half way thru the mod work , i had not changed out the caps at this point .
And yes , i gotta swap out the orange nuts and washers still ... overspray yuk !
