Yeah, they're really pretty different amps. I've never owned a regular series JVM (though I do have a 1-watt JVM head), so I can't make a direct comparison.
I didn't bond with my JVM Satriani immediately. But as I keep tweaking and playing and listening, I like it more and more. It's a biiiiggggg step up from my former JCM 2000 DSL.
Tons o' tiny JVM fun.
I've got a JVM Satriani, a big pedalboard and a Bogner 412, too. But this little beast holds its own. It's not the same, of course. But it sounds terrific for what it is. Just swapped in a WGS ET-65 into the cab, and it really rips.
I'll snap some pics. We'll have to see about clips. I'm a bit shy when it comes to my relative lousy playing. :)
Thanks for the comments here, gentlemen. Much appreciated!
I've been eyeing JVMs for a long time. So when a nice JVM1H popped up cheap at GC, I snatched it up. It's making its way here, and I'm pretty jazzed for it's arrival. It'll make a nice "little brother" to my JCM 2000 DSL 100.
I don't post too much here, but lurk quite a lot. Looking forward to...
FWIW, I've got an Alchemist, and the difference between 40-watt mode and 20-watt mode is pretty negligible. A bit less volume, but, really, not that much.
Not that it matters. Just thought I'd chime in on that issue.
Looking forward to seeing what's cooking with this new release.
Thanks for all the responses, guys. No worries on the discussion about the 6100. I'd love to nab one of those some day, but they're pretty rare and complicated enough (construction-wise) that I was a bit leery of it (though I know there's some great support here, too.) And I know there are huge...
Thanks again for all the "feedback," guys. I've done a lot of reading on this forum and I realize there are sort of two camps when it comes to the original DSL range, those that absolutely love it and those that think it's overrated. One thing's for sure, these amps are pretty accessible for not...
I'll let you know. I use the Alchemist exclusively as a clean pedal platform. It's got a nice 6L6 clean, and a good master volume. I find the dirty channel to be unusable. I've tried over and over again to like it, but to no avail.
Longtime lurker here, finally making it official.
I've been wanting a Marshall for a long time, and a deal finally popped up locally today that prompted me to pull the trigger. Nabbed one of the limited edition 2009 DSL 100s (with the black piping) at a local GC for $549. Actually, I don't...
