Best ways to use JCM 800 2205

Hello! I have what seems to be the second generation of the 2205 amp. I love it, but would like to get the maximum out of it tonewise. Can you please give me some hints on the way to do it? Should I use the OD808 / SD-1 to boost the lead channel by setting level on the pedal to max and leave...

    Is this normal for a 2205 1984?

No, nothing special. The technical guy just played around with some capacitors to ensure the channels are separated. Nothing more. I must admit that it's rather hard now to get a clean sound from it - the volume on the guitar should be around 2-3, otherwise I start to feel some distortion of...

    Is this normal for a 2205 1984?

This is just to thank you :) I hav forwarded all the advices to the specialist at the workshop. HE started with C40, eventually experimented over other capacitors. The bleeding stopped. The clean channel works from clean to crunch (depending on the guitar volume and gain), OD channel gives a...

    Is this normal for a 2205 1984?

Ok, I have removed the 2nd from the left ECC83. The Normal channel does not work. The Boost works (no channek bleed :D) at reduced volume. one transformer has 784-139/4 marking, on others it's partially missing and thus unreadable.

    Is this normal for a 2205 1984?

yes, that is exactly what is happening! If I add more gain, the normal channel does not influence much on the Boost. Am I able to switch to Normal channel without the footswitch? Is the schematics named 4210 of the first version or some mode? I can't quite figure it out. Should I go for these...

    Is this normal for a 2205 1984?

Hello! I have started playing on the JCM800 2205 bought some time ago and found the following. When I switch it on without the pedal, the boost channel is ON. But if the gain is from 0 to 5, the AMP is controlled by the volume / bass / tremble of the Normal channel, the sound does not change...

What Do You Think Of These? 2x12 V30mf Vs 1960a G12-t75

I ve been monitoring the local e-bay for a while, there are not too much options. and of course I was looking for rather old "made in England" speakers. So I will try to get the quad one. Thank you!

What Do You Think Of These? 2x12 V30mf Vs 1960a G12-t75

Dear Friends, I am looking for myself a NY present to pair my JCM 800 2005 or TSL100 (whichever I will not sale) in Europe. Found at the moment these 2 cabs: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Marshall-2x12-Box-Celestion-Vintage-30MF-G12-Marshall-echte-Englisch/273239296428?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144...

Is This A Good Deal For A 1936v For Home Use?

yes, thank you for noticing the wattage! I assume there are T75 inside, so the deal is not actually good since I can buy a new one for 382 EUR. Also having read that the T75 is really not that good (I play 80-90 rock, blues like Still got the Blues), so I guess I will just sit and wait for...

Is This A Good Deal For A 1936v For Home Use?

Hi! Im looking for a cab in Europe for my JCM800 2205. What I have found is this: 1936V S/N M2004110620Z for 329 EUR https://www.ebay.com/itm/Marshall-1936V-2x12-Baffle-occasion/132660630469?var=null Is this something worth considering? My only doubt is that it has a "1936 lead" sign on the...

Jcm800 2005: Clean Channel Is Much Louder Than Boost. Is This Normal??

Hello! Well, I have noticed on my JCM800 2005 (1984) that on the same volume settings of the clean and boost channels (with maximum gain set for boost) the clean channel is MUCH louder than the boost channel. Is this actually normal? Or something needs to be repaired?

Need Help Deciding On My First Marshall

That’s what I did: bought a dsl15c, tsl100 and JCM800 2005. I also considered that an amp should be able to play quietly cause i live in a multi-appartment house with brick but still not thick walls. All three can be loud. But with more powerful amps I got a tone which I liked much better than...

How Old Can A Cab Be Without Malfunction?

Thank you all! Strangely enough locally the cabs and amps are at least 50% more expensive than on e-bay. That’s why I am searching on e-bay. Having considered all the options, it seems a better idea to search for a used but not that old cab. It’s the same with my JCM800 2205 - I know that it...

How Old Can A Cab Be Without Malfunction?

Hello! I found a 1960B JCM800 cab with Rola Celestion G12-65 speakers from 1982 for a reasonable price on e-bay. But I am wondering whether in general it is safe to buy such old equipment? I remember I had a stereo system Hitachi, and the speakers simply fell apart after 30 years. Whats the...

    Marshall Dsl15h Vs Jcm2000tsl100 Vs Jcm800 2205 (1984)

Would there be any major difference for me between the 1936 and the 1936V-series for me for the JCM800 and the TSL100 amps? Or maybe 1960 and 1960V - I presume that the the 4 x 12 gives more of the power feeling. The JCM800 sounds like the good old Russian rock. I love it :)

    Marshall Dsl15h Vs Jcm2000tsl100 Vs Jcm800 2205 (1984)

I was also asking because I don't have experience in playing in a band, etc., so I have absolutely no idea what would the criteria be in this case. But definitely my ears are the first opinion as I need to like what I hear :)

    Marshall Dsl15h Vs Jcm2000tsl100 Vs Jcm800 2205 (1984)

Thank you for the replies! First of all. I do agree that I need a new cab. The MX-series does not seem to sound right. I was surprised, but my to my taste my old AVT20 easily overplays the DSL15H on both channels. The JCM800 sounds dull: the boost channel sounds weaker that the one of the TSL...

    Marshall Dsl15h Vs Jcm2000tsl100 Vs Jcm800 2205 (1984)

It's hard to describe sounds in a non-native language, but I will give it a try:) Previously I played in the AVT20 combo, so tube amps is something new for me. I didn't like the DSL15H one because it sounded very light-weighted and "narrow" for me. The JCM800 made a big impression due to the...

    Marshall Dsl15h Vs Jcm2000tsl100 Vs Jcm800 2205 (1984)

Hello! Recently I have obtained the mentioned 3 AMPS at a low price and 2 marshal cabs with them: 1х12 and MG412A. I am learning to play right now (on Gibson LP studio 1992), aim to play Gary Moore, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, etc. and some lyric stuff on clean sound. Since I need to sell 2 of the AMP's...
