I will also use it if I am having issues in the higher frequencies and playing live not able to run over to my amp and futz around. Otherwise I keep it wide open usually.
I am hoping one of you fine folks has a DSL40c head shell they'd like to part with. Not looking to wait 4-6 weeks for Stagecraft. If you ask me that's a ridiculous wait time.

Yeah I think I am swapping in a V30 today when I get a chance. When I did that gig the highest I could get was 8'oclock on the dial for volume. In other words 1. I only had the gain knob at noon.
One thing I noticed at my gig yesterday was how the 70/80 really needs to be pushed to sound good. It's not just the amp, it's the combination of the amp and speaker being less efficient that gets you to that sweet spot. It makes sense because the DSL40c, unless it's completely cranked doesn't...
Yes the company is Tech-21 NY and they are still around. I had the Trademark 120 and it sounded awesome. As heavy if not heavier than my 1970's SF Twin though. Great amps. I have always wanted a TM-300 but they are not very common and typically people ask too much for them when I do see them up...
Yep. I was all ready to start experimenting with some speakers I have laying around like V30, ET65, and an Egnater Elite 50 (supposed to be a 50w Greenback) but I am liking this so much "as is" I dont want to mess with it. I am doing my first gig with it tonight. I figure that's the real test...
I know I am just beating a dead horse but 533 pages? Well time for a refresher I guess. There is a happy medium with this amp between the 2 channels. I am achieving it easily right now and below are my settings. BTW this is at band volume and in a treated 20x20 room. Amp is on a angled stand...
Same. I just re-acquired a DSL40c and I'm hanging on to this one. Right now just using a Helix for front end fx only but probably go to 4 cable set up so I can have some different delays and verbs. I almost forgot how delicious the classic channel is on the DSL40c. Getting a stark reminder right...
I showed up to a gig last night fully expecting to be able to use my amp and it turned out it was practically a lounge gig. Same with bass player, had to put the amps back in the vehicles. In that case my Helix saved the night. Plugged us both into it, each with our own amps and paths and used...
I haven't opened mine yet to bias it but not sure I am going to as it sounds great. I did try swapping a 5751 and a 12at7 between V1 and V2 in it but would up with just a 5751 in V2 and thats the stuff right there. Probably not going to gig it til I get the head shell from Stagecraft. If I...
I stopped flipping gear about 15 years ago. It doesn't make sense now really. I used to make a pretty nice bit of extra cash doing it and I didn't have to try and gouge people. Was always win/win and thats why I stopped. I couldn't give great deals any more. Now when I sell something I price it...
Yep, as I dig and dial more and more with mine I am finding so many different types of Marshall tones in there. From warm cleans to edge of breakup to medium gain back in black type stuff to all out Slayer tones. Again the red channel is my least favorite but I did figure out how to make it...
It was a little bright for my taste at first but that was because I had the amp eq'd to the Eminence Legends that were in it prior. Once I dialed the presence and treble down more and turned the resonance up some, it was perfect.
Stuck these puppies X pattern style in a 4x12 I had kicking around and WOW! I have had a hard time getting along with G12T-75's but with the V30's? Whole different ballgame. Pretty sure I had a 1960a I got off someone some years ago with this combination in it and I dont remember digging it as...
For recording I can get great Marshall tones with Amplitube 4 and Helix Native. Pushing it through a PA or a powered monitort hough is not the same at all. I use a Helix through a tube powered combo and it's about as close as you can get to the real thing without actually owning whatever it is...
