I don't remember cleaning it. Must be the photo angle. I got this amp (and two cabs) in 1994-95 from Bob Crane (Bristol UK dealer). They were much more reasonable then.....
As you can see these mounting screws appear to be stainless steel so maybe stock to the amp. This amp is transitional as it does have the yellow/gold lamp instead of the red lamp that is common for the earlier block logo amps. London John, do your brass mounting screws look the same?
This mounting screw looks a lot like the stock brass one. How common are these mounting screws. Would it be easy to find exact replacements if the above screw is not stock to the amp?
What are the dimensions?
These are stock oval Philips screws that came with the head. These are nickel coated (I assume). What other type of screw should have come with the amp?
The pic is showing the amp as an early '65 head that should have come with the Pekalit knobs. The potentiometer shaft's are solid shafts (if...
Since you've been in touch with Cooper Musical Components, where is this company located? Curious to know since I've sent them two emails (& no response)........
I do believe the tube hats are original. I got this amp from Julian Marsh in 1990 (on trade) He found this amp (complete stack) in London as it is. The owner used it as a bass amp (from what I remember Julian telling me). The amp came with replacement black AC-30 pointer knobs which I replaced...
I would like to chime in and ask these additional questions regarding JTM-45's:
1) When did Marshall start using Drake PT in place of RS (my guess is early '65)?
2) When did Marshall start using Drake OT in place of RS (my guess is mid to late '65)?
3) When did Marshall start using Orange...
I passed on a chance to buy one of these in 1996 from Gary Hernandez (San Diego Guitar). He brought a pristine '65 dual OT 100w into the Del Mar Guitar show (he got it from Gary Winterflood in England - I believe).
He wanted $2,200 and offered it to me for $2K. I passed (like a dumbass). 100%...
I'll stick to the NMV 4 hole 100's. It's easy to get high gain at moderate volume with today's pedal technology. I used to own a 1984 JCM800. It was ok but again you have to crank it to get some good gain. The NMV amps allow you to bridge the I&II channels for additional flexibility and they...
