    Fender Snapocaster Stratocaster

They are Telecasters and I hit them pretty hard. Might try something that prolongs the string life, though I don't fancy the thought of WD40 anywhere near. I always gig with a spare guitar, in fact I have sometimes brought three to a gig. There's also the lovely feeling of playing a fresh new...

    Fender Snapocaster Stratocaster

I change my strings after every gig, especially if it's a hot, sweaty, long event. Two and a half hours playing in cramped pubs takes its toll on strings for me. A couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd see if I could get away with getting two gigs out of a set of strings. I didn't because I...

View From The Stage, Marshall Origin 5 In Action

Played two big gigs recently, a large hall and then this open air gig at a Santa Fun Run. Yep, that's a Marshall Origin 5 through a 12" speaker cabinet, that carried my twangy sounds down a busy, cold High Street. It filled a big hall a week or so ago too.

Origin 5, anyone added a reverb tank, please?

Delay/Reverb pedal on its way with a decent set of short patch cables. Cheers all.

Origin 5, anyone added a reverb tank, please?

Thanks. Probably not worth the hassle. I'll likely get a small reverb/delay pedal and put it into the loop and run a power supply into it too. Cheers.

Origin 5, anyone added a reverb tank, please?

I've got an Origin 5 that I have shoehorned a 10" speaker into and also use it through a 12" speaker cabinet. I have got hold of an old Park amp which has a spring reverb tank and I was going to see if I could fit it into the Origin 5 to give it a bit of reverb. It's an old passive one, and...

Class 5 combo or Origin 5c

I have an Origin 5. I put a 10" speaker in it (detailed in another thread) and I also run it into a 12" speaker cabinet for gigs. Yes, gigs. These amps are not bedroom/apartment amps unless you like a clean tone. They are loud, certainly loud enough for pub gigs, which is where mine comes into...

    Show me your Telecasters

I recently picked up this Affinity tele in a local charity shop for £40. Someone had removed two strings and saddles from the bridge, the jack plate was cracked and it was rather grubby and dirty and had a couple of chips out of the finish. I cleaned it up, new saddles, strings and setup. Four...

Origin 5C came with a surprise modification

I put a 10" speaker in my Origin 5 but I had to shim the front baffle to make sure it didn't touch that amp chassis. Looks like your amp has had a similar thing done as the speaker cloth is nearer the front of the cabinet. This is what I did with mine. Likely that the previous owner has...

    Chuck Berry Through Marshalls

He still sounds great through those Marshalls. I know he used to specify fender Showmans on his contracts. Along with Cadillacs to and from the gig. Wherever he was in the world.

    Chuck Berry Through Marshalls

Just watching an old clip of a session by Chuck Berry from 1972 when he played at the BBC and took a couple of shots because I had him down as someone who played through Fender amps. But here he is with two large Marshall heads on the floor behind him. I know he used a stereo guitar so he...

10" Speaker Into My Origin 5.

Worked well this last couple of weekends. Modded Marshall Origin peeking out behind me in this shot from the most recent gig, though it was far from modest in its tone and volume.

10" Speaker Into My Origin 5.

Bought this little combo a couple of months ago and since then have been running it into a 1 x 12" cabinet for gigs. I then started thinking that maybe for rehearsals taking it as a stand alone amp, folks were saying it benefited from a larger speaker anyway. So I looked into a few threads and...

    Your First Guitar?

A Kay Strat style guitar. I remember it having a high action, wimpy pickups and weighed a lot. Now fetching silly prices on Ebay. I then got an Antoria Semi Acoustic which I had for a long time, way longer than the first good guitar I got which didn't last long when it got stolen, a rather...

    RIP Wilko Johnson

RIP Wilko. Big influence on my playing, but a really big influence on others too. Many Indie/Punk/New Wave bands took parts of his style. Andy Gill from the Gang of Four? Hugh Cornwell from the Stranglers? Unique and a complete rock n roller to the end

    Jimmy Page black telecaster

There was a picture somewhere of Jimmys guitars backstage and one of them was a black Telecaster. He also used a B-Bender Tele on All of My Love off In Through The Out Door

I just bought a $10 Marshall amp... Mods Done!

Great job there. I have a Park G10 as my workshop amp. I added a Celestion 8" speaker and a speaker out socket I'll put some pics up sometime

    Footswitch Effect on Sound?

I got a little Origin 5 combo recently and I have been trying different guitars and settings with it. I have noticed that despite having nothing in the Effects Loop, when I push the switch on the footswitch to ON on the F/X loop, it brightens up the sound very slightly. Anyone else found this...
