SV20 - Bright Cap Mod is Worth it

Hi all - I’ve been a Studio Vintage SV20 owner for a couple of years now. While I quite love the amp I’ve never truly been able to love the bright channel as much as I’d like to. I felt like the normal channel was too dark and the bright channel was too bright, and when cranking the bright...

    DIY grill cloth replacement

I’m debating changing the grill cloth on my 4x12 and some advice from those of you with experience doing this would be appreciated. I’ve always loved the look of those 80’s JCM 800 era faded grill cloths. But a material like that is not going to be easy to find, so the next best thing for me...

Hello guys, new Guitarist/DIYer here :)

Hello everyone! I'm a long time fan of the forum, since I started messing with pedals, amps and guitars. (messing meaning destroying propably :P) I just need some help. What is the suitable thread to post amp mod questions and is there any section for discussing new songs? (for some...

    JCM800 custom build prices - UK 2020/21

Hi all, I did a quick search on these forums but didn't really come up with any close answers for 2020/2021 dates - just a lot of old outdated threads and US prices. I'm looking at a few diy custom hand built schematics for a JCM800, and just wondered if anyone knew a ball park figure for a...

    Combo amps

Hi everyone! Hope you are doing ok in these Corona times. I'm gonna build at jtm50 clone, and I'm gonna make it look as a bluesbreaker combo. Anybody here who has done something like that? I really think the looks of the bluesbreaker are really classic. Cheers

Just built a Brian May style treble boost....love it!!!

This is a brian may TB veroboard project, if you wanna build one the veroboard diagram is all over online. It sounds great. Still waiting on my control knobs. The switch is the tone control. The middle position is stock(treble) the top position is mids and the bottom is bass. The volume control...

    A/b/y Pedals: Switching Channels On A Jcm800 2204

So I built a sweet JCM800 2204 last year and it is the sound I was always looking for!! Both channels sound great, but for me, as for many others, the HIGH input is the way to go. But if you need a real clean tone, I mean really clean, by not only rolling down the Volume Knob on your guitar...

Some Sort Of Marshall Clone Build...

So I happened into a bunch of parts last week for real cheap (Smallbox Headshell, Steel chassis, 800 Plexi faceplate, & a set of Classic Tone 800 transformers). I've got most of the small parts on hand as I repair amps locally so there's really not much more to pick up and have a great clone of...

Jcm800 2204 / Oscillating Whistle/high Pitch Noise When Turning Power Off

Hi, already posted about my amp project, the other (solved) issue is going into another topic, so here, fresh, my newest issue. So I am building a 2204 jcm800, already kinda working. Presence does not work, i dont know if this is related to this issue. The amp makes this strange oscillating...

    Jcm800 2204 Bias Problem

Hi, I have a problem with my jcm800 2204.The bias current in el34s goes up to 10ma max. I turn the potenciometer all the way up and all I can get is 10ma per tube. I measure the output voltage of the el34s and is about 468v.

I Can't Decide Which Amp To Build...

Good morning, evening, or afternoon wherever you may be... Ive already posted other threads as I wanted to build a 50 watt Plexi. Unfortunately it is not that simple. Im getting lost in the model numbers, names, and everything else. It seems that there is a different schematic for everything...

    2205 Or 2210

Does anyone own both? I would prefer the 2205 to save on maintenance, but if they sound bad I'm not going to mess with it. Do the 2205s weigh much less? I've owned a 2203 for a few years, but my buddy's 2210 (on gain) has that distinct soapy growl I can't live without. I'm trying to capture the...
