Ive got someone selling a 77' jmp 2203 w/beat up tolex, and mismatched knobs. asking $1250-But came down to $1k Is it worth it? I don't NEED it but it would be nice. I feel like my other marshall's get close enough , you tell me, got a jcm800 87' 2205,dsl 50 jcm 2000 2004 ,vintage modern 2466, tsl100, 92' jcm 900 slx el34, jcm900 dr 4500, jcm900 2500 mk3,jvm 410,2555x,mesa stilleto deuce 1 that does a pretty good late 70's jmp mast vol/jcm800 tones with more features etc. I already turned down recently a road worn beat up jcm800 1982 2204 for $900 because I felt my other amps covered that ground at a more reasonable vol. Will this sting if I pass?

I think 1000$ is a good price and will keep it's value better than your other amps.

Even in AU dollars that's a great price and I'd be jumping on it......and I've already got a 79 and 80 JMP 2203's, a 82 JCM 2203, and a 82 4104.

There is a slight difference between my 79 and 82 2203's (but both sound great) and between a 2205 and a 77 JMP there should be a pretty noticable difference.

It all depends what you want to play. If it's 70's classic blues rock and hard rock then the JMP is the amp to get.

Make sure you play it. Those old amps are hit and miss. There are a lot of poor sounding vintage amps out there that have been mod’d and abused so avoid the hype. The price is good, but not a bargain. It’s in the low normal range only if it had a recent service. The key is try it out. If you like it, buy it. There are limiting factors with those amps too. You will be at war with volume. They are loud and need to be driven to get the tone we all like. No fx.

I know the temptation. Make it a cold hardline decision. You have some very cool amps that already mine this territory.

Will it sting. Nope. Their will always be deals on old 800 amps, especially beat up ones.

He already said cosmetically it’s beat up with mismatched knobs. No mention at all made of playability.

-I prefer & love amps & cabs to be original & beat to hell,.. Battle scars and beer stains from playing in BARS and taken home in the back of trucks,... Gives them character, gives them a personality.... It gives them soul,... I haven't heard a bad "BEATEN BUT LOVED JMP" in awhile especially if the seller has owned it for awhile, or its the original to third owner....
