Hey, hey!!! :)
How are you, guys??

Just recorded this comparison between Celestion speakers... Creamback 75 vs V30.

Used a Gibson Les Paul, Friedman Smallbox and a isobox (Randall clone).
Miked with SM57 and AKG P170.

Hope it's useful for someone! :)

I actually like the V30's better - which is good since I have a quad to put in a cab. In the first few bits they definitely 'cut' better but were thinner, in the last segment they sounded more open to me. Was the EQ the same for each speaker? All whilst listening through laptop speakers. Ran it again with 'phones - same opinion.

Thanks for doing the demo!

Sounds Great!! Both are solid for various applications, but I prefer the 75.

Love the comparison, but which one to choose? Each has a desirable sound quality...

Lucky for me, I bought a 1936 cab with one of each. Problem solved..

How do they sound paired in a 2 x 12?

Like the seller told me it gives you tight bass (no flub), smooth highs and big juicy & woody mids....when I listen to the audio posted above, each clip I liked one or the other, depending on the riff, voicing being played. So this cab to me has the best of both worlds, to me. And, the louder, the better...but everyone in my house likes the weber mass lite, but me...good thing I have days I'm home by myself.

Apparently, the speaker set up is what is in This speaker combination is found in Dave Freidman's 4x12 (he uses the lower wattage G12s)....my cab has a creamback 65 and a vintage 30.

Nice, man!!
I got a 2x12 cabinet and put the V30 and Creamback75 inside. It sounded good, but I didn't turn up the Master yet, only played in low volumes at home.

I guess Friedman's 2x12 cabs are 2xV30...
And 4x12 are 2x V30 + 2xGreenbacks.

So, I have another V30 and will try 2x V30 in my 2x12. But I need to turn up the Master to get the real feel.

Del Rei please do and record it. The first recording you did was great. I'd record mine, bit I don't have recording equipment..

Yeah, I'll try... But I'm afraid it won't be in a good quality because my previous videos were recorded in a isobox where I could increase the Master.

But with this 2x12 cabinet I won't be able to do that, specially at home, but I'll try something... I've recorded something really quick in low volume, using my Zoom H1... But that was not a fair recording.

Excellent comparison, thanks for posting it!

Any more? I'd love to see a g12t75 comparison with a v30.

I preferred the V30 for examples 1 [both parts] and 3, yet in example 2 the V30 almost sounds like the mids disappear [who would ever think that about a v30??!?!] and the creamback owned that example. The interesting thing a out the 2nd part of example A - while I preferred the V30, once the full band backing track started the differences seemed minor.

I think this says a lot about us as guitarists, gear geeks and tone chasers; while we go bonkers over minutia, the end result in a full band is really pretty minor, and your average listener cares even less.

Good playing goes a lot further than the difference in tone of two speakers with the average bar/concert goer.
