My first good guitar is my Gibson ES 335 and I've owned it since 1969 (51 years).
A 1967 Gibson ES-335, had it since 1975. I still have my first guitar, a 1967 Guyatone my dad got in Japan, along with some others I had before the 335. I have way too many now ..

51 years, starting with a Kingston 2-pickup electric with no truss rod. Yet I've kept at it...

For guitars I've used in public and get payed for it, it's a black 86 Squier ST62 E-Series I bought new. Still gig and record with it, but it's been refretted several times and PU's, electronics and hardware changed, due to wear and tear and other necessities. Only once had the urge for a more "fancy" Strat when a guy I gave lessons to, bought a Bonnie Raitt Signature - so beautiful! But I can't play lacquered necks for longer than a few minutes before it gets too slippery. Had Epis and a Hoyer V but, although being good guitars, they never cleaned up well - didn't know what you can do about it then. My first "keeper" with buckers is an SG Faded I bought only 4 years ago and changed everything in it apart from the tuners and it worked out perfectly well. It's gonna stay forever. I still have my first electric, a Framus jazzbox with bolt-on neck from probably 59. It doesn't get played a lot but my grandmother gave it to me in 78 and I learnt to play "Johnny B. Goode" and discovered my first penta-scale on it. Never used it in a band though.

Guitar that I have had the longest is my Fender Strat Plus bought in '87. My oldest guitar is a '69 Gibson ES-330. Incidentally my oldest amp is a Fender Princeton Reverb from '67...the year I was born.

I got my first real guitar in 1974, that was a '66 Gibson non reverse Firebird...bought from Andy Shernoff (Dictators). Gigged with it for years. My first guitar was an acoustic, don't remember the name, got it around 1967. See my pic below if anyone can figure out the brand!!! Got a Kay electric around '68, and also got a Black Beau tyLes Paul copy around that same time. Picture is me, around '67 or '68, damn I used to be good looking. PS: I've owned about 200 guitars since then, never was a hoarder, I'd buy and sell.

Bought a 1975 Ibanez Gibson copy for $300 in 1979. Sold it in 1985 while at college, then bought it back in 2009. Total in my hands for 16 years, 41 years in total.

I’ve had my 93 LP Studio since 94 when my parents bought it for me. So 26 years now.

Picked up a new Gibson LP in the year 2000, so 20 years for me.

My 1980 Hamer Special has been with me all it's life, 40 years. I bought that one at "Atlanta's Rhythm City", which later became Guitar Center. And it's definitely true that (some) guitars get better with age. This one is a rock monster, but really started to sound great after it turned about 25.
