Two (plus a couple of clones). I am fond of the two I have, 1968 1960A (it is the matching cab for my 1959T, bought from the original owner. Had a hard life, now re-covered and loaded with early '80s G12-80s) and my early '80s 1936 (currently WGS loaded). Here is the '68 1960A with my JVM410JS on top:
I found 2 I really love the sound of. Got a couple others. . Wish I could keep em all. I wish the speakers and cabs that have the tone I like weren't so expensive. I don't really need anymore but can't say I won't have. Would like to have a small box 50 watter and a a basketweave a cab. That would be the perfect mate to this
I have only one Marshall 1960TV. It was heavily used when I bought her and have been gigging steady with her for over 5 years straight.
Never one problem. I love that she is a few inches taller than the normal 1960.
Greenback Celestions being pushed, is my recipe for tonal success.
I never understood the reasoning behind making a 300 watt cabinet but we all use 100 or 50 watt heads. There is always way more bark when things are closely matched.
Granted, you are in scarier territory for sizzling a speaker, but isn't that area you want to play in??? It is for me...It's like your mother telling you not to play in the street, but you do it anyways. Right?
I have recently been running an Egnater 1x12 cabinet along with the Marshall. I place her in close proximity to me on the left facing my left ear, for more headroom when I move across the stage. Works wonderfully.
