I am thinking on getting the 4210 to match my 2205. That way my gear ( pedal board and switcher ES8) can do both the combo and the head. So pending on what I take with me I don't have to have something set up for my DSL 40C that I have now.

I used a MKIII 50 watt head and the matching MKIII 50 watt combo as my rig for 15 years or more. It was a great compact rig for gigging and served me well. While it was never my favorite tone, it was certainly decent sound and easy to lug around. I had a double ended female connector and extra speaker cable and with that, I then had the option of plugging the head into the combos male speaker end to use the combo as a 2X12 cabinet. The idea being that while I used the combo as my main amp, if I blew a tube or had an issue with it I could just bypass the combos own amp and use the head as a spare. I think in all that time I only had to use the head once though. Just bullet proof gigging amps those MKIIIs.

I have a DSL40C that I had a head cab made for, so I can easily convert it from a combo to a head and back.

Nope.
The JVM410C would be worse to lug around than just the head, a cab (even if a 2x12) and the effects rack.

Besides...I have never heard an open back cab or combo I liked. Try as I may...but full closed backs are my tone.

The closest I've come to that was when i had a 2205 & it's 100w combo version. I'm not really a fan of combos, maybe a Fender Twin or AC30 but for Marshall i doubt i would buy a combo again.

P.S Still love my 12 Reverb though. :)

I had a 100 watt JCM900 DR in both head/1960a and 2x12 combo versions. I kind of liked the combo better with an over drive mod and EL34's.

Also a Vintage Modern 2266 head 425b cab and a 2266c 2x12 combo and a JMP 2204 head and 2x12 combo.

Of the latter two, both the head and cab versions sounded better to me.

I had a matching JMP 50 watt Combo and Stack set. The Stack or Half Stack sounded better but the Combo received less volume hassles. Too many people listen with their eyes…

Right now I have the head and combo versions of the mini jubilee. Haven't had a chance to run the head into a decent cab to see if I like it so much better that I would get rid of the combo but long story short, I made a quick decision to grab the head as it was going at a steal

I have a TSL602 combo and a TSL60 half stack. They're both my favorite amp.

I have a 4203 (Combo) and a 3203 (Head). They don´t sound very similar, even when using the same speaker. I like the combo a tad more.
In general I do like the sound of open back combos, because everyone (the drummer!) can hear you and I can hear myself, no matter where I´m going on stage.
I would like to have a 4010 someday, maybe the best sounding combo I ever came across.

Marshall combos are heavy ...but they take up less space when you need dynamite in a small package....Our bass player says "Heavy sh*t is good sh*t"
Rare '76 4 hole combo ....although I have that chassis in a headbox right now and a 2104 chassis in that combo cab

Me personally , I think JCM era sold state combos sound great .I got a couple of those too
No too expensive or heavy

I have a 2204 and a 4010. The 4010 is a 2204 to every exact part except a capacitor on the mid pot. My 2204 is set up to run el34 (originally 6550) and the 4010 is 6550. They do sound very close to the same through a 4x12. The only difference is the different power tube characteristics. Both really kick tail. However the open back 1x12 doesn't sound like a cabinet and really serves as a small grab and go package but look out when it's plugged into a 4x12.

I have a '79 JMP 2204 and '83 JCM 800 4104 both with 6550's. I gig with the 4104 more. It's heavy but worth it.

Exactly! Combos are bitc.. to carry around. Just try to lift a 6101 without any prior warm-up (high change to get permanent spinal cord issues)

Bought a 1x12 combo cab, Mojo Tone, for my 1987x head. Love the versatility of having a combo and being able to plug up a cab...Plus its purple so is sounds better ;)
