Maybe it has a few technological upgrades, but I'd love to buy a historic remake of a lot of cars / vans / trucks / etc. If I could pick a first, it'd be a historic remake of a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird in black / gold. There are soooo many more. What would you pick?

I also like these, 429 Boss Fastback or 428CJ Eliminator Fastback.

My Dad was an independent engineer, and my Mom worked at Ford. They met because my Dad had a meeting with my Mom's boss. Had it not been for Ford, I wouldn't be here today. They'll always ben my favorite.
That is some good history.

The best Ford I owned was a blue 1976 Mercury Cougar with a 351 Cleveland. It was a comfortable great car.
It was destroyed by an intoxicated asshole in a 18-wheeler.

I also had a nice 1976 Mercury Comet with a nice 302 when I was younger as well as an 1977 Cougar 351 Windsor.

New cars are really boring. Ever since the wind tunnel became so integral to design car brands have lost their uniqueness. Nothing in particular I would seek out but an old VW Rabbit might be fun to own again. The classic Beetle was fun too. As a former Saab mechanic I still like the old 900s as well.
Too many cool classics to name though.

Pontiac needs a resurgence. Seriously, it's time to bring them back.
I never understood why they closed Pontiac and Olds but kept Buick.
I was also surprised to recently learn Ford no longer makes passenger cars for the US market. I can remember when the Taurus and Escorts were everywhere- now they've given up on cars.

How did this *not* get mentioned yet?

A Firebird and the Shelby GT500 would be on my list, too, in all honesty. Though believe it or not, this still makes me smile. Imagine this with power steering, air conditioning, electric windows, all the new fangled stuff:

Historic remakes and the rebuilt vintage examples shown above seem to differ imo. I've owned some sweet muscle cars back in the day and I think vintage Marshall amps and vintage muscle cars have some similarities where they can be pumped up with performance enhancements. Here is my pick for a historic remake. Ford GT40. Saw one on the road not too long ago. Stunning.

I'd have a 69 Pontiac Trans Am, with Corvette seats, chassis & suspension, dash, and upgraded radio. Stuff a 427 LS7 in it with a six speed manual tranny and 3.73 gears.

My 69 Firebird 400 is almost done...finally. Had a four month setback due to a health issue (fixed), and then the new gauges I got were a bad set, had to replace them. Right now it's getting the final fixes on the gas gauge sender (replaced), and other minor details to make it complete.

New Gauges movie, these are the ones that got stuck, now replaced. Engine sounds pretty beefy now, eh?

Looking forward to stabbing that accelerator pedal when I get it dialed in. It's already hit 6003 rpm without valve float, but I didn't have enough open highway to really flog it till the Holley gets dialed in. LOL
