Easy answer for me. Les Paul.

Supplemental question: How many types of (electric) guitar do you need, in order to play all the kinds of music you’d ever actually want to play?

For me, I think 3 would do it: Les Paul, Strat, and a more “metal”-style Ibanez. Which is my 3 electrics, in fact.

...a sad day...
No one guitar can cover every base.
I still need more.
No pickup changes, coil taps, pedals, or amp settings is going to make any of the guitars I have sound like a Strat.
I need a Strat...

The same applies and is actually fact (science) +/- seven pound LP Standard. You cannot save an anemic guitar, but it can look and play like a dream!

Martyn Booth Signature:
Mahogany double cut (335 shape but smaller) with maple cap
Rosewood board
Coil split humbuckers
Hip shot wiggle stick and locking tuners.
