Honestly all of ‘em are great—SB is right the Clean gets the most work for me right now, mostly b/c I’ve been using the Morris and the Colby more lately and they have more gain than the Marshalls and Friedmans. The Clean adds no dirt tho so if you are expecting a SD-1 you will be disappointed. The Rockaway is def the most versatile w/the 5 band eq—the Ikon has the most upper mid bite and is also the noisiest. Never tried the silver or the JB which I think @solarburn has?

I have the Ikon Archer and it works just as well as all the other "Klones" out there. I do however prefer the Rimrock Mythical Overdrive to the Ikon though. Works great in front of Marshalls - slam the front end and retain the original sound sans colorations etc.

The only one I kept is the .45 caliber, mainly because of the ammo reference. Just kind of sounds like a tube screamer to me, albeit a good one, smooth like an 808 with more bass and output on tap, sort of like a real klon with less gain. I read its circuit is based on the Timmy, so that tells you what you need to know about jrad, they just rip off other designs. I wasn’t impressed with the klones, my ktr is far better.

Yep. Only reason i went with the Archer JB after we talked prior is focussing on a bit more open, upper mid thump with my OR50H. So it was more of application specific, otherwise would have gotten the Clean too. If I was going to goose the 800 like green channel of my Iconic 5150's, I'd go with the Clean boost. No added frequencies one way or the other.

Today I ordered the new J Rocket Blue note select. I really am getting into the low, saturated OD's. Midgain to hard rock lane really gets me going with my amps. I like them to sound different too, not the same voice. Gets redundant. That's why i have a shit load of speakers & different cabs.lol

Anyways Jeff, hitting a beautiful 2203, 59, 87 with one of the J Rockets should be joy.

Check this out. I get mine in a couple of days. On paper this one was built to push from where i set my amps up. I never start from a clean tone. We'll see if it does what i like.

Builder's note:

The Blue Note Select is a “V2” of our favorite circuit. The original Blue Note Pro Series was the first and that included the “Hot” switch. We then introduced the Tour Series that did not have the “Hot” switch. The newest Blue Note Select not only includes the”hot” switch but also includes major improvements to the looks, the sound and the overall feel, all in a very small package. We have gone so far as to have custom knobs made, a custom color mixed to achieve
the electric blue you see and by far the biggest improvement is the low end both in and out of “hot mode”. This could be our best overall low gain drive.

Low gain pedals can be a challenge because they skirt the line between boost and drive. Our suggestion for running the Blue Note Select or any low gain drive pedal is to let it breath with your amp. If you are using a clean amp and you rely on your OD pedal to produce your overdriven sounds it can be a challenge. Some of the negatives are that pedals can introduce a clean note underneath the overdrive giving it an unnatural drive sound. We find the best results are when you get your amp just past the minimum edge of breakup or “Breathing” you can then add in a touch of overdrive to send it over the top. The Blue Note Select lets you add a subtle OD or you can get the internal clipping pretty hot as well. Either way, getting your amp into a gain structure that does start to breathe only makes any OD sound better. The trick with the Blue Note Select is that you have two gain structures giving a wide array of drive so you can vary your amp type. We use the Blue Note Select to really push a Marshall Plexi because you can really tweak your bottom end to match. Please experiment because there are a good variety of sounds in a very simple setup. The best praise we have received about the Blue Note Select is that you can’t tell you are using a pedal.
