I have a SM57 for close micing my guitar cabs. I have to admit I record nowadays using a Mooer Radar Cabsim pedal to do the job. I use either my DSL1CR's send out straight into the Radar, and for bassduties I use a SansAmp Bassdriver DI straight into the Mooer...... Yeah cheating I know, but it keeps the neighbours happier then using a mic.

Sometimes I need my Fender '73 Silverface Champ sound, and then I use the Rode NT1a.

my favorite for bass (SVT & 810) is going direct out & throwing an AKG D112

iu

& mixing them...

actually, the AKG records guitar speakers really well too. You can mix that w/ an SM57, or whatever floats your boat, as well...

The last batch of clips I posted of my DSL40 were done with a Sennheiser E906 straight into the interface. Just along the edge of the cone.
