I'm not a combo guy at all but I decided to get something that was easily portable for rehearsals and picked up this 2001 DSL 401 on Craigslist for a decent price.
This thing Screams!
I've gone from Zero Marshall Amps for many years to now owning Three Marshall Amps in the last few months! (VM 2466, DSL 50, DSL 401)
I not really liking the VM that much after the honeymoon period but I absolutely love the DSL 50 & 401.
Somewhere along the line somebody replaced the stock 401 speaker with a G12-66 Marquee and it sounds killer in this amp. I haven't opened it up yet to see if the overheating mod I read about has been done, but I did zip-tie an industrial cooling fan to the back grill just in case and it works perfect.
I've got a Strymon Timeline in the loop & a Blackstone Appliances Mosfet OD out front for a little extra lead push & this little baby is a Tone Monster!
